Venus in Aries w/ Rahu (3/11-4/5) and Mars in Gemini (3/12-5/9): Playing with Fire

Venus moves into Aries today, joining the north node Rahu, where we may find ourselves surrounded by smoke in our relationships as we fire off in our own direction. Venus is the planet of beauty, happiness, romantic relating and harmony with others. Rahu is the head of the serpent, voraciously devouring everything in sight, but with no body to assimilate the experiences. Aries is where we are moved to action from our own impulse as opposed to what is good for everyone or others. Rahu stops and starts many things and doesn’t take advice. Aries is where we are hasty and struggle to maintain momentum on things we start.

At this moment, she is riding in through the Gandanta, a karmic knot where we have a break between water and fire signs, This difficult chasm we must leap with no guide, as no nakshatra bridges water and fire. As we can imagine, this is quite the step from the last month of having Venus exalted in dreamy Pisces joined Jupiter! It is like stepping out of soft fantasy into self-propelled frenzy of action, still based in illusion but less pure in its intention. Projections on others and exaggerating what actions of their seem “selfish” is one way this may show up, as well as a failure to see how we might also be acting from our own self-interest. While Venus is the indicator of relationships for all of us, for each of us she rules a different area of our life. Aries is also a specific part of your life, so knowing how this transit will specifically show up for you is key.

But before we get to that, the other planet that rules and fuels our passion has also changed signs…

Mars has spent the last 7 months in Taurus and today he moves into Gemini for the next two. Here we may find ourselves “in it to win it” in conversations, or other mental exercises. Mars’ main motivation is to strengthen us, whether its through exercise, competition, discipline or any other decisive action. When he is in a sign that doesn’t match his energy well, we see frustration, irritation and anger come out. In Taurus this was heavily focused on pleasure-seeking and enjoyment and the frustration could blame others for our own lack of discipline. In Gemini this is the mental realm of facts and ideas and can come out as arguing and polarizing ideas. We may suddenly see otherwise complex and nuanced concepts as black and white, right or wrong and try to individuate ourselves in our communication, rather than finding shared and common ground. Whatever house Gemini is for you and whatever houses Mars rules for you will be extremely significant here, as this shows what is actually happening in our lives as a result of this transit.

Together these two planets changing signs from feminine water and earth into masculine fire and air is going to really rile up our relationships!
