Our New moon this month is April 30th at 10:28 am HT and brings us into the first eclipse of the new Aries/Libra axis and while the Sun will only partially be eclipsed, it will certainly be felt that our great source of Power and Light is being reset. The Sun joins the Moon in a New Moon, essentially eclipsing our Mind every month, and in an eclipse cycle, it too is “eaten”. Rahu, the north node (eclipse point) is the one devouring our luminary this time with his open mouth that runs us through experiences obsessively but has no body to digest or assimilate what he’s done. This is “New Karma” opening and will affect whatever area of life Aries is in your sidereal chart. Three lunar phases into this New moon in Aries, cycle is what is called Akshaya Tritya, the most blessed day (really 2 days) of the year. It is when we have an exalted Sun and exalted Moon (as it transits to Taurus right after Aries) and this year we also have exalted Venus, and Jupiter and Saturn in their own signs. Mercury is also in quite good dignity in Taurus. This day is said to be a good one for bringing forth abundance by investing in something that you would like to multiply many times. Bharani means “to bear” and is the nakshatra of both birth and death, as it is represented by a yoni, the female organ through which life emerges and is Yama the god of death. Here is a place where we need to be very careful about what we are creating and make sure it is in our highest alignment. If we are not discerning and disciplined with our creative and sexual energies, we can create chaos instead of art or wind up with something that we are not prepared to bring forth (like an unwanted pregnancy). Every “No” gives way for a true “Yes”. Only by self-control can we be truly free, otherwise we are just riding whatever the tides bring us. In the sign of Aries, where we are concerned mostly with ourself and starting something new, and the delusional energy of the eclipse, we must be particularly careful. It is interesting that this New Moon/Eclipse falls right before the pagan holiday of Beltane, where fertility and creativity abound. It is said that by dancing around the May pole one can increase their fertility. Best to make sure that is what you and whoever else is involved really wants, and that you have the resources and energy to care for whatever it is you become pregnant with. Again, knowing the house this is happening in for you is absolutely key to understanding how this will manifest in your life. Aries is also the sign of war, discipline, black/white thinking, courage and anger. The Sun, our Consciousness, leadership and Authority (also the Government) is exalted here but with the nodal confusion exacerbating what we think we know and have to do, we can expect some act first, think later kind of events to take place. Mercury has finally broken free of our months’ entanglement in a Kala Sarpa (Time Snake) Yoga by moving into Taurus, giving us a grounded sense of discernment to help navigate these confusing times. Now is a time to trust the information you gather, however slowly and allow your communication to take on a plodding pace. This placement is also great for connective and considerate conversations, so in the midst of all the chaotic feelings of planetary shifts and eclipses we can at least communicate effectively and kindly. Venus has also moved into sidereal Pisces, joining Jupiter. Jupiter is in his own sign here (to learn more about this alignment, including Jupiter's transit in Pisces for all 12 Rising Signs, scroll to the top right corner and sign up for my newsletter! ) Venus is exalted in Pisces, in her best dignity, so both of these planetary energies are highly intelligent here. This means our Relational Self is in a position where we are more apt to raise our love vibration up to that of God(dess)/Love/Energy and move beyond the normal exchange that sometimes brings us harmony in our relationships. Here we feel happy and in love with all of life, without needing a specific return on our investment in a specific person. The last planet to change signs this past week, is Saturn is moving into Aquarius on April 28th, where he’ll be until July 15th. He has been stationed for the last two years since January 2020 in his own sign of Capricorn, helping us accept the inevitability of death and the sobering truths that help us detach from the material world. While Aquarius is Saturn’s other sign, it has slightly more movement, and therefore hope, available. We are committed to a vision for the future and to what needs to be done to create fairer structures in society.
