New Moon in Vishaka & Diwali: Find your light
Saturday, November 14th at 7:07 pm Hawaii Time (GMT-10) the Moon and Sun will come together at 29:08 degrees Libra in the star of Vishaka. Vishaka is the “forked” or "branched” and indicates a path must be chosen. Oftentimes this is at the expense of what others want or a connection you want. It is a choice to follow your inner truth and light. In this New Moon we are struggling with the end degrees of a debilitated Sun, and are stepping into a debilitated Moon, so we have neither the strong connection to Source or the emotional stability to navigate this choice coming from our luminaries. We must surrender the control, the will, and know that we are of this light, regardless of how dim it might appear and that we are not our vritti, the waves of chaos that lap through our minds. We are intrinsically pure, we do not need others to deem us so. We do not need a candle on the outside to show us the way, because from within we have the light of a thousand candles glowing. All that shifts is perception; ours, theirs, society as a whole’s. We are entering Diwali, the 5 day festival celebrating the victory of light over dark. As we move into the darkest time of year and the debilitation of both luminaries, we must “conquer” our demons, first by acknowledging their existence and then by transforming them into our allies. “All goes onward and outward…and to die is different from what anyone supposed, and luckier” (from Whitman’s "Leaves of Grass”). We do not lose anything, it is simply recycled into fodder for something new. Mars is moving direct right before this Moon phase begins, giving us more forward-action and discipline but still in the watery sign of Pisces, expect the first steps forward to be more emotional than physical. Watch out for emotional battles, as he is giving his drishti (gaze) to both our Sun and Moon in the relational sign of Libra, and to the ruler of Libra, Venus, debilitated in Virgo. Expect to find faults with both yourself and others and to have some pent-up anger around that. Jupiter is moving into Capricorn on November 19th/20th. This is a going to feel constricting and chilling to our sense of hope, inspiration and wisdom. Be sure to use this time right now of Diwali to find strong connection to your teachings and practices, because when Jupiter is joined Saturn in his own sign of consequences, function and cold, hard reality we might flounder to find the expansion to reach for anything new and inspired.
