The Moon and Sun will join together in 10 degrees sidereal Pisces at 2:28 am PST this Tuesday, March 24th, making Monday night the dark moon. This New Moon in Pisces is located in the star of Uttara Bhadrapada, where we have seen the lightening flash of insight already. We already know that we are spiritual beings having a human experience—now we must dive deep into ourselves to grab a hold of something more than just that realization. We must do the spiritual work, and it requires not just effort, but faith. It is a letting go as much as anything and the deep surrender that comes when we are sitting in the subconscious realm. The nakshatra is represented by the water snake, or naga, Ahirbudhnya, and shows an accepting of the poison that come before the sweet nectar. It also indicates a deep need to integrate the subconscious with the conscious, so that we can become whole within ourselves. If we are not able to find oneness within our own selves, we will not be able to bring that together on a global scale either.
Practical action will be our guiding force this month, as Mars is joining Saturn in Capricorn this Sunday, March 22nd. Mars is bringing courage, discipline and action to the serious and steady sign of long-term goals and practical, responsible efforts. This alignment will help each person, business, town, county, state and country move forward in their efforts to diminish the effects of Covid-19. Mars is exalted in this placement because it is where we are most able to funnel our excess fire and anger into a valuable and worthwhile project. With the two natural malefics joined, we can expect fear and anger to continue to prevail, but with an intelligence, caution and maturity not often seen when these two planets join. Jupiter will be joining March 29th, which will begin a period where we will not be using our best teachings and highest wisdom. Our sense of expansion constricted and our hopefulness waning, we can expect both within ourselves and outside of ourselves to see a wave of fear-based ideologies come out of every opinion and even potential laws and judgements that speak to this fear. Jupiter is debilitated in Capricorn, focused more on money and safety than higher truths and philosophies. The month ahead should be interesting and our commitment to our practices, physical and spiritual will be paramount in how we handle as individuals. Mercury in Aquarius is offering us some discrimination in what we hear and read and allowing us to communicate somewhat effectively. Aquarius is the sign of community, futuristic vision and humility. These qualities make it a humanitarian sign, where we think of the many over the few. Mercury is also in the star of Shatabishak for this New Moon, where we had our last New Moon. This is the star of a hundred healers and represents our collective desire to use our intelligence and communication to help each other and the world heal right now. We can see this as in the midst of this global pandemic, many people are offering their gifts to be of service, helping one another through the challenges we are navigating right now and attempting to adapt to our dilemma with new and different systems and solutions. Of course there will always be the opposite of that occurring too, as all swings of the pendulum have to swing back the other direction to work towards balance. Venus is on her last few days in Aries, moving into Taurus on the 29th, and we can see that our selfishness in relation to others will transition to a more peaceful and harmonious vibe. While in Aries, our sense of relating to others and experiencing happiness is focused on getting what we want and not paying a lot of attention to who or what we tumble in the process. Once she moves into her own sign, we will prefer to ground ourselves in creating, growing food, cooking, eating and generally making ourselves feel good. In Taurus, we want to feel pleasure, but we also understand that it is better if we are aware of others and their needs too to fully experience pleasure. We are also slower and more sensual in our daily experiences, as opposed to storming forward on our way towards a specific goal we think we have. This helps us “stop and smell the roses” and find beauty and peace in the little things. Now is a time to care for ourselves, so that we are able to withstand anything that comes our way. It is also a time to check in on one another, as many people are experiencing severe life consequences to this virus literally shutting down the world, not to mention those that are sick. May all beings everywhere be happy and free. Lokah Samasta Sukinoh Bhavantu
