This Friday, October 16th at 9:31 am Hawaii time we have the Sun and Moon joining together at the very end of Virgo, in the star of Chitra. Our last New Moon cycle was also in Virgo, at the very beginning of the sign, so we are continuing with Virgo themes but with a different bent. Both of these cycles are starting in the very Bala (infant) or Mrita (dead) states of the sign, indicating a lack of presence with both our power and emotions in these cycles. Virgo is where we are present with the details, and the star of Chitra is where these details begin to coalesce into a structure or structures that will work for everyone. Chitra is part in Virgo and part in Libra and is where we take the physical details and turn them into socially harmonious and functioning systems. Here we are architects and designers and are able to focus that Virgo attention to details into a project that makes our lives more beautiful. What are you designing? Chitra is also where we are noticed and sparkle like a diamond or shine like a pearl. Across from this Sun and Moon is Mars Retrograde in Pisces. They are in close mutual exchange, putting the pent-up frustration many have been feeling since Mars first went Retrograde September 9th directly into our psyche and soul connection right now. This can be particularly challenging since Virgo is where we are fault-finding and tend to notice the shortcomings of ourselves and others. Mars’ energy can bring a passive aggressive approach to handling this and it can also create more frustration around what is not “right”. Mars is where we want to act, and in his retrograde state it can feel like all our actions rewind us back more and more, especially in the watery realm of Pisces where life is like a dream. Our job now is to dig deep into our own personal work and let others do theirs. A true spiritual warrior turns the discipline and fire of Mars on themselves, not using it to discipline others. Mercury also just began its Retrograde cycle on the 14th in the sign of Libra, and is the ruler of our New Moon, so expect more delays and running over old ground in our communications. Mercury retrograde helps us cultivate patience and more than anything, the skill of Listening. Where are we talking without hearing others? In what ways do we need to be more careful with the details and our communications? We can be sure these will come up to smack us in the face, so pay attention and work through what’s in front of you. Since Mercury is in Libra, a lot of this communication will revolve around relations with others and our ability to communicate effectively. Generally, Mercury is quite happy here, where cordial conversation and harmony are key, but in its retrograde state the politeness might be misunderstood or received late. It is a chance to go deeper into these niceties and make sure that they are not just being used as cover to avoid having the difficult conversations. Finally, the ruler of Libra, Venus, is in Leo right now, so notice where you may be being a bit of a prima Dona, wanting everything to revolve around you and your happiness, as opposed to the give and take that naturally makes relationships thrive. We can be playful, affectionate and magnanimous here, but the tendency is to expect attention, even being put on a throne by our partners especially, and since this is a transit, know that they feel the same way;-) This New Moon is the start of Durga Navaratri, the nine nights of the Divine Mother. She is the protector, the one who fights the battles the help us overcome our demons, even the hardest, most-shape-shifting ones that evade us time and time again. She is also the one who is so loving and kind that she will then take even the remains of our worst parts and welcome that back into her divine folds. She is fighting the epic battle for 9 days and then on the 10th day, she achieves victory and reminds us that she is actually always there, but we must call upon her if we want her help. Now is an excellent time to engage in a. Ceremonious prayer to work through your inner obstacles to what you want to manifest. Whatever it is that you are designing in this New Moon, now is the time to do the due diligence on clearing the pathways so that what you erect is built on a clear foundation.
