The Full Moon on July 13th is at 8:37 am HT (11:37 am PDT) so the night before will be its strongest energy. This Moon is called Guru Purnima, in the Hindu month of Ashada. It is falling in sidereal Sagittarius, ruled by Jupiter, Guru himself. The word Guru means to bring darkness to light, and one who receives this name is the revealer of that light. Jupiter rules two signs, the one the Moon is in and Pisces, the one Jupiter is transiting himself. In a world full of false teachings, advertisements, propaganda and an image-oriented reality crafted on social media, we are in a proverbial desert of truth, blinded by mirages and so thirsty for moisture that we will drink sand if someone tells us a grain might contain some water. This Moon is our reminder that truth is in you now, and always has been. That the water, the moisture, the Amrita (sweet nectar) lives in you now. It is accessible by remembering it is so. Sagittarius reminds us to go out and seek what has already been taught, and learned and to follow in the footsteps of those who know. To stay on the path and to use the tools and teachings at your disposal to not get lost. Pisces reminds us that it is ultimately all an illusion, and helps us dissolve the structures when we are ready for the experience of Oneness.
The particular nakshatra this Full Moon falls in is called Uttara Ashada, and is the “later victory”. Uttara Ashada is ruled by the Vishwadevas, all the deities, which is powerful rulership to have and what contributes to the victory in this star! It is symbolized by an elephant’s tusk, showing the power, wisdom and primal quality that is required to get this far. Bridging Sagittarius and Capricorn, it is where we see our teachings land on earth. When we have high ideals, but lack humility, we can become nothing more than pulpit standers, but when we can walk the walk and bow as low to the ground as we do rise high to the sky, then we are teaching by example. The fruits of our earlier efforts can be seen here, and one of those fruits is the right to put in more effort;-) Saturn Retrograde is now back in his own sign of Capricorn and some old fears may be resurfacing, especially around survival. We will see this individually and also in the collective. This Saturn is giving his one way dristhi (energetic gaze) to Jupiter in Pisces, so while our teachings may be pure, some *appropriate* fear may be seeping in. What are we committed to? What have we swept past in our effort to move on from the last two years. Saturn is not letting us off the hook! Venus has joined Mercury and the Sun in Gemini, bringing playfulness and mental energy into our relationships. Perhaps a good time to discuss sensitive subjects while we have some objectivity, humor and strong discrimination and communication skills! Finally Mars is every day closer to Rahu, the north node, and increasing the heat and spread of the heat! This is a crucial time to stick to practices that work for you and use the elements of water and earth to find grounding and hydration/cooling.
