Shared Purnima is the full moon after Navaratri where it is said the Goddess Lakshmi comes down to earth and visits the homes of those devotees that stay awake. She is the goddess of fortune, fertility and grace in relationships and bestows us with these qualities if we are ready to receive her. This Full Moon is Wednesday, October 20th, at 4:57 am HT (GMT-10) in Aries. With the Sun just moved in sidereal Libra, themes of our relationships versus our Self are hot right now. The Sun is in his state of debility in Libra, creating a scenario where we offer our power, leadership and authority to others instead of coming from our own strength and connection to source. The Moon is lighting up across the sky, to remind us not to over-compromise and to create strong disciplined routines that give us the framework upon which we guide the rest of our lives. Other people cannot trust you if you do not trust yourself.
Aries is the first sign of the zodiac and Ashwini, the first star. This indicates that new ventures are going forth, and in many ways will reflect the house of which Aries is for you. This fresh start is also furthered by the fact that by now Jupiter, Saturn and Mercury are all direct again and many projects, commitments and communications that have been stuck or lagging will now get the motivation to move again. This is for better or worse. Mercury is in his own sign of Virgo, where he is also exalted, so communications will be likely very clear and organized. Saturn is also in his own sign, and direct since the 10th, so our sense of what we are committed to is going to really strengthen and our willingness to roll up our sleeves and do it will come from that commitment. With Jupiter, we have to struggle with the fact that it is debilitated in Capricorn, and while there is the presence of Saturn to help significantly with this debility, in transit especially debilitated planets really do bring quite a bit of issues. While in someone’s natal chart they have a lifetime to work on this area of difficulty, in transit there is a collective quality of the debilitation, meaning everyone has it. No one is tempering it, and so it is allowed to go unchecked as “reality”. This is particularly clear with Jupiter as the sign of Capricorn puts our sense of purpose, what inspires us and what we believe in a distinctly contracted state. The options seem few, the beliefs are morose and rooted in primal instincts of survival, rather than the expansive glow of truth, and the output of its forward motion will reflect that. Furthermore, with the Sun also in debility, and Mars in deep combustion with the Sun and traversing the less than friendly signs of Virgo into Libra, we can expect our masculine energy to be failing us right now. Too much compromise, too little truth and the capacity to fly off the handle when our anger flares because we are not coming from our truth or highest self in our actions. The more we can maintain discipline in our self care and take care of our responsibilities, the better we will feel when we spend time with others. The blessings we will have here, are that Mars and Venus will be in exchange of signs only a couple days after this moon, offering a bit of diplomacy to Mars and a hint more courage for Venus navigating the emotional waters of Scorpio. Venus is joined Ketu, the south node here, but is moving far past him quickly. Nonetheless, the lack of head to engage in relationships will indicate some sudden breaks or disappearances in our happiness with others and blind spots running the show if we do not take care and responsibility of our emotions. Since Ketu is coming to the final eclipse in Scorpio this December, we are hopefully somewhat more aware of what we have been avoiding in this house in our chart! (If you don’t know what houses are being affected by these transits, visit my website at: www.radhahomeyoga.com and you will receive 3 FREE reports instantly on all these transits for all 12 Rising signs! ) We also have the above-mentioned Mercury strength (after moving back through Virgo, he will then traverse Libra, offering harmonious communications) and the fact that Saturn has us committed to the stark, colder realities and humble enough to do the work. This Moon will remind us, that even though emotional connection is important, it is equally important to follow our own path. As the story of Surya and Sanjna (watch the video for the story of the birth of the Ashwini twins) illustrates to us, when we follow what is right for us from a higher plane, the results will come in our favor, even if it doesn’t seem that way at first. The trick is to trust in dharma, our true path and that everything is either moving us towards that or away from it, If we have faith that by following higher truth, the rest will work out, then we do not struggle so much through the egoic battles that our willfulness puts us through when we try to force our hand. Many Blessings on this Purnima! Jai Shri Laksmi! May her grace and abundance flow through you!
