Full Moon/Lunar Eclipse in Taurus: Find your Ground

On Sunday night, November 29th at 11:30 pm Hawaii Time, the Sun and Moon will be directly across from each other in a Full Moon in Taurus. From 9:32 to 1:53 am on the 30th we will be in the cone of penumbral lunar eclipse where the Moon will turn a slightly darker shade as the Earth almost blocks out its light from the Sun. This is the first in a pair of eclipses, with the second one, the total solar eclipse in Scorpio on December 14th being the more intense one of the two. This lunar eclipse is happening in the sign the Moon is exalted in, Taurus, where peace, stability and love prevail. Here we are keen to get our needs met and we are also lovers of beauty, art, and pleasure. We mostly want to just get along and find the easiest route with the most amount of grass to nibble along the way. In the star of Rohini, we might find our sensual desires take on even more significance as she is the ruddy-faced maiden who makes men blush and her sisters red with envy. Conjunct the North Node, Rahu (hence the eclipse), we can expect to feel things different than they actually are, as Rahu imparts a foreign feeling to planets and houses it is with and in. There’s an obsessive quality, and a magnification that while occasionally offers huge prophetic insight, often just delivers us a huge platter of delusions and illusions to eat. And eat we do. Voraciously. For Rahu is just a head, without a body to digest. Be careful what you bring into your sphere on this night. Remember the saying, you are what you eat…


The ruler of Taurus, Venus, is in her other sign of Libra, offering a lot of extra social grace here and desire for beauty and ease. It can also help our “eclipse downloads” to be more aligned and intelligent. Venus will give us grace when handling energies that make us feel uncomfortable, but it will also make us more likely to be polite and allow our circle to be wider than we might like. 


On the opposite side of this Moon, is our Sun, joined the South Node, Ketu and getting closer in time for our explosive solar eclipse in two weeks. Here we are shining some light on our shadows, hopefully, exposing some of the deep wounds we allow to trigger us again and again and get us into the same old situations we have been in before. Have we been here before…? Yes, we have and whatever is left unexamined, you can bet your a$$ will show up on December 14th. Mercury is also here, lending some drama, as he sets the tone for some emotional conversations that are hell bent on controlling others’ will. This can also be a time for real connective conversations as there is a deep empathy available here. Check in with your level of integrity both personally and when revealing your vulnerabilities to others. Are you being vulnerable? Are you stinging them, so they can’t sting you first? Or are you pulling on their heart-strings to get them to validate your feelings and keep your work in the shadows? 

Jupiter has just joined Saturn in his own sign of Capricorn, giving a deep seriousness and gravity to everything we are experiencing, from our health and well-being to our outlook on the future. This can be a time to really let go of false prophets and dogma, or meaningless ritual, or this can be a time to let go of hope altogether and fall into a despair. The inspired, expansive side of Jupiter is clenched here, and we see a more pragmatic, fearful and cold side to our beliefs. We are no longer inspired towards our beliefs, we are either feared or freed into them. Meaning we can either let go of our attachments that keep us from finding the real meaning in our practices and meditations, or we can lose all faith in anything spiritual and become nihilists. Or maybe a little bit of both… 
Jupiter will also be offering his gaze to this Full Moon, which despite his dignity, will still bring some hopefulness and wisdom from our teachings to this Moon.
