The Moon is full today, April 26th at 5:31 pm HT (-10 GMT) in the star of Swati in sidereal Libra. This is a star where we are finding our individuation, despite the illusions (Swati is ruled by Rahu) and the wind (Vayu, the Wind is the lord) blowing us in every direction. Here the object we wield is a sword, and we are fighting for what feels like our own power. The Sun is in debility in this place in the sky because it is where we give our power away in an effort to get along and be liked. This star reminds us that no one can have power over us if we do not give it to them. How do you fight the wind? How do you fight illusions of other people? The sword we carry will not get us far if we swing it at every ghost we see. The sword must be used in discernment and with training.
The training happens in Aries, where the Sun, Mercury and Venus are residing. Here is where we learn how to strengthen ourselves and how to show up in a disciplined and active way to follow our own light. The Sun is in his highest state of power here. Mercury and Venus, however are not. With these two relational planets in Aries, we are not very compromising at the moment and this Moon is reminding us that there is a time and place to be willing to budge. If we are so strong in our logic-oriented mind of right and wrong (as shown by Mercury in Aries and Mars in Gemini) we might forget to make room for other people’s reality. Being in our power does not mean fighting or blocking any ideas or people that make us feel disempowered. It means recognizing that we are the keeper of our own power and it is ultimately us who gave it away to begin with. This full moon also marks Hanuman Jayanti, the birth of the monkey-deity who shows us the way of bhakti. If we hope to emulate Hanuman in his strength and courage, we must also emulate him in his devotion to truth and love. It is only through the love in his heart that he is able to muster up his incredible feats of power. If he is selfish in his endeavors, he will be brought back down to earth as he was when he was a small child chasing a mango in the sky. It is only through his true awareness that there are no "others" that he is able to act in full bhakti, full devotion.
