Vedic Astrology for February 22nd, 2016
The Moon will be full in the sign of Leo, in the nakshaktra of Magha at 8:20 am on Monday (HST). Leo is ruled by the Sun, who will be directly across the sky in Aquarius at this time, giving more power and strength to our psychological expression, as well as vision and humility. The Moon is our Mind and ruler of our emotions. With her fluctuating figure she enhances our emotional activity when she is at her most vuluptuous and full... and when she is waning to dark we feel our mind's mimicking that void in a corpse-like pause. In her fullest form in Leo, we will experience a surge of our own regality, courage and ability to face life like Lions and Lionesses. Leo has already been occupied by both Jupiter and Rahu, the north node of the Moon, and although they are quite far from the Moon at this time of the Full Moon, the following two days she will be traveling closer and then directly over these two grahas. Jupiter has been Retrograde since early January and is causing us to question our teachers and teachings, reflecting deeply on what it is we believe. With Rahu so close in the sky to Jupiter, there may be a frenzied feeling surrounding these things, where we are taking in too many different teachings, or we are dispersing our own energy as a counselor, guide, or teacher in too many directions. Saturn is giving his drsithi to the Moon; this will also increase in strength in the 2 days following the full moon. His intense gaze is offering us the work ethic we need to express our Soul's work, but it is often propelled by fear and the pressure that comes with a deep awareness of Time. This is a good time to step into our own power with what we've been sitting on, if we have some wisdom to share with the world. Although we may continue to be uncertain or fearful that we don't know enough or aren't good enough, we will have more courage to move past that fear and embrace what we do know to inspire others. The nakshatra of Magha is ruled by the Pitris, the ancestral forefathers and shows a strong leaning towards ritual, ceremony and connecting with the ancient ways of our own or other culture's lineages. It is also ruled by the smokey, mystical south node of the Moon, Ketu, who is in Aquarius with the Sun right now, in the same distance degrees as the Moon is from Rahu. The Sun will take longer to come really close to Ketu, so we will see the effect of pulling away from our Soul Power, in a couple weeks much stronger than now. This is in many ways favorable for us, because with Rahu in Leo for the next year and a half, the general trend is and will continue to be, more obsession with power and leadership, and self-aggrandization. This cycle of the Sun in Aquarius is really giving us a humble start to our power trip in several ways. read more on Rahu in Leo, Ketu in Aquarius in the past few reports, if you scroll down Mars has just joined Saturn in Scorpio on Febuary 20th and the pair of notorious malefics will be together here until September 18th, so we are in for a wild ride! We have been feeling the paralysis and fear over whatever area of our life Scorpio rules in our sidereal natal chart beginning to melt recently as Mars neared closer in to his home turf, and now, as the fiery, militant planet moves in and begins to set things right in his own house, we are going to have to face the general...and the music. In the next month, we will be forced to face our deepest fears and like I said earlier, we will find we have both the courage and humility necessary to do that. We will experience some kind of a break-through that may feel like a great release of pressure, or may feel like an explosion as the cold, harsh reality of Saturn is met with the hot, impassioned ire of Mars. This is a time to take extra good care of yourself. Both Mars and Saturn help us to be more disciplined and to work hard, but can be harsh and unforgiving; if we can use that discipline to create self-care routines that nourish and nurture our body and emotions, then we can make it through this challenging time with more balance, ease and grace. Getting in touch with the deeper emotions beneath the surface is Scorpio's gift and if we can be honest and use svadyaya, self-study or awareness, to look at what comes up for us, rather than what other people bring up for us, we can remove a major roadblock to happiness. Finally, Venus and Mercury have been joined for some time now in Capricorn, in fairly close degrees, bringing communication and relationships together in the practical and resourceful sign of Capricorn. This helps us to speak our needs to our partners and other adults in a clear and direct way, and to also understand what others are needing from us in energy and time. Saturn is gazing upon these two, and Mercury especially is moving closer into his dristhi, so we may find we are hesitant and cautious with our speech and lacking in warmth. Saturn sets boundaries and this may be a good time to set boundaries for yourself in your work and personal relationships and to communicate those terms. Overall, this is going to be a very deep month, and year, with a lot of work to do in both our professional and personal lives, but the payoff from all of this struggle and awareness can be a beautiful aligning of your life with what your needs and dharmic purpose truly are.
