This Sunday March 28, at 8:48 am HT (-10 GMT) the Moon and Sun will be exactly opposite one another for our Full Moon in sidereal Virgo in the star of Hasta. Here we take our best laid plans and release them. What remains or comes back is what we are making manifest. Ruled by Savitur, the aspect of the Sun that we experience before we even see it and witness first rising on the Eastern Horizon, Hasta is the open hand, open to receive as well as to let go of what no longer serves us. Thankfully, we’ve had a nice explosive Mars/Rahu conjunction nine houses away from this Moon, which very likely helped us each lose what no longer serves us in our truth, LOL! The universe always provides:)
Seriously, while it is never fun to experience intense anger from within or outside of us, it is often these “explosive” experiences that help clarify what isn’t working and propels us forward. No pain, no gain, they say, and sometimes that is true. The real blessing isn’t in random explosions, however, it’s in aligning with our deepest truths and following a path that continues to build on and illuminate those truths. With Venus, the ruler of Taurus (where the Rahu/Mars exact conjunction occurs Friday) is in her point of exaltation in Pisces. When Venus is exalted, we really move beyond basic relational needs with one another and into the next plane of love, where it is IN us and EVERYWHERE around us too. When we focus on the immediate exchange of two persons we can elevate our love to a point, but when we move that into a space that is bigger than any two beings themselves can carry, we invite God(dess) in to activate that love. We move from bounded to unbounded love. This is especially important right now, because in Virgo, the sign of Healing, we are getting an exchange between the Moon and Venus, two primary planets in relationships. The Moon in Virgo can bring our mind and emotions to be overly focused on the details, and we can struggle to step back and see the big picture. Venus in Pisces can help keep the focus of happiness on our connection to spirit, rather than something someone else needs to do to please us. Venus and Sun joined in Pisces can find us floating in a sea of all the possibilities, without any bounds to keep us contained, and the Moon in Virgo can bring us back to the specifics that ground our thoughts, feelings and inspirations into something tangible that can be made or done. Venus being so close to the Sun (they are also exact as of Friday) can give us the feeling of being overlooked, underappreciated and not admired. This could definitely be a catalyst for some of the anger and aggression of the Mars/Rahu conjunction, but it can also be an inspiration to find our happiness inside ourselves and our relationship to Spirit, not through others and what they give us. Everyone is always going through their own experiences also, and often we expect too much of each other. We expect our friends and partners to show up for us in ways we often do not even show up for ourselves, and this is not a healthy dynamic. How can we connect to one another outside the fields of “right and wrong” and how we have been conditioned to think relating works? How can we manifest our wildest dreams, literally grounding the impossible in the possible? The only way is if we allow our connection to whatever Source we resonate with to guide through us. If we are the only ones with whom the responsibility of making big things happen, we will fall from the weight of it all. Even with help from that other person we have made contracts and commitments with, we will both drown. Swimming is an act of God. Floating and being carried while also using the mechanics and know how to keep yourself afloat. Neither can happen on our own will alone. With the ruler of the Moon, Mercury in the end degrees of Aquarius, we can use this time to blueprint our models for what we want to build in society and for the future. In just a few days, Mercury will transition into Pisces and our capacity to clarify our thoughts will be also in the watery and spiritual realm of the fish. While brilliant insight will be available with the conjunction of exalted Venus, we will still have more trouble delineating and organizing our thoughts at that point. Jupiter is also giving dristhi to this Full Moon, giving us some practical wisdom that includes long-term awareness of how best laid plans can falter, fail or survive. This is a time to take the gold nuggets of wisdom of Jupiter in Capricorn, and leave the fear and less expansive energy to be, because the Sun is coming up and we can choose to either stay asleep, or be a part of this brand new day! Gayatri Mantra: Om Bhur Bhuva Swaha Tat Savitur Varenyum Bhargo Devasya Dhimahi Di Yo Yo Na Prachodyat Holi is the “festival of colors”, an Indian holiday that officially brings us into the celebration of Spring! As we move out of the darkness of winter and into the budding spring, we also are honoring the lifting from the darkness of spirit into the light. The story of Holi shows Prahlad, a devoted young boy who has a one-pointed love for Vishnu being born to a demon king, Hiranyakashyapa. His father was self-obsessed and wanted the devotion of his son. When the reflection of Prahlad’s purity became too much to bear, he began to devise a plan to end his son’s life. After several failed attempts, he brings his sister Holika into his schemes, asking her to bring Prahlad onto her lap and he will light a fire around them. Holika has a boon to be protected from fire, but Prahlad will burn. Unfortunately for her, Holika finds out that her boon was contingent on her being alone in the fire and she burns, while Prahlad’s devotion and love for Vishnu saves him. The day leading up to the festival of Holi is often honored by bonfire, where this scene is re-enacted and then fire can be brought back to individual homes to purify and clean any negative energies that have accumulated there, as well as bacteria, disease etc. This is a time to begin Spring Cleaning too! Happy Holi!
