The Moon and Sun will be directly across from each other at 1:36 am Hawaii Time (GMT-10) on Thursday, January 12th, 2017. This first Full Moon of the New Year is on the heels of Mercury going Direct and is in the extroverted, witty sign of Mercury, Gemini. Gemini is directly across from Sagittarius, where the Sun is, offering us discrimination and intelligence in this hopeful and inspired period. Sagittarius goes out in the world to find Meaning, Purpose and Wisdom while Gemini is the place in our chart where we Think, Assimilate, and Communicate. With three weeks of Retrograde motion before this Full Moon, perhaps we have done some thinking and listening, allowing us to come forward with a well-thought out Belief system from this point forward. The nakshaktra that the Moon is full in is called Punarvasu, and it is a star of beginning anew, with the scars from the past, but the dew-faced purity that comes in the first soft rain after a tumultuous thunderstorm. It is the “return of the light” and is ruled by Aditya, the Earth Mother. Mercury, himself, is in the sign of Sagittarius with the Sun, bringing his thoughtful energy to our sense of Power and Authority. The Sun is where we resonate on a Soul level, allowing us to shine our biggest Self. In Sagittarius, we are shining through meaning, but we must be careful not to turn this into a dogmatic or self-righteous burning message. Mercury here can make us all preachers, and now that he is direct, we are more likely to speak our truth out to anyone who will listen. Hopefully, we have used some of the Retrograde time to Listen as opposed to Speak, so we might have a more thoughtful approach to what we share with others. The Sun will be moseying into Capricorn on the 13th, so we are ready to act on our beliefs in a practical and advantageous manner. In Capricorn, we get things done, and with the Sun there, we will feel compelled to use the element of Earth to physically birth our big ideas. Mercury is in an exchange of signs with Sagittarius' ruler, Jupiter, who has settled into Mercury's own sign of Virgo until next September. Expansive Jupiter is less so here, as we focus on what inspires us through the details and facts and figures, but with Mercury in Jupiter also, we have some interchange of the two celestial bodies' energies and they both offer the other a leg up in their world. Notice if you are getting to attached to the physical body as a way to reach higher planes of wisdom. We will likely have a strong mental attachment as well, preferring facts about what works over the subtle intuition that can often bring about shifts in wellness and spiritual connection. Taking care of our health is a priority for this whole year, and no doubt many a New Year's resolution is connected to purifying the body and organizing the home and mental space. Venus is sandwiched between Mars and the South Node, Ketu, in Aquarius right now, giving our sense of Happiness a bit of a squeeze. Mars can agitate and over-physicalize our sensory desires, making us have heightened sexual energy and in Aquarius, it will likely lack commitment. If you are already committed, you might find yourself feeling less emotional about the connection at this time, as Ketu pulls away from wherever it is located. Mars is going to move into Whatever romance is lost this month, however, will come back in an almost magical way come January 27th, when Venus enters her state of exaltation in Pisces. In the dreamy waters of Pisces, we will find that our entire perspective on Happiness will shift and we will feel much more connected to everyone and especially our partners and close friends. There will be less caveats on our Happiness, and Pleasure will come on an almost godly level. This bout will be long-lasting, as Venus will remain in Pisces until May 30th, but from March 3rd till April 15th, she will be Retrograde, causing us to question and run back over what really makes us Happy and how we can enjoy being with others. Saturn is also about to change signs, moving into Sagittarius on January 25th, a transit that will last until January 2020, with a short stint moving back into Scorpio in late Spring and early Summer. Saturn is our ability to get work done, due to an often unnerving awareness of the limits of Time. In Sagittarius, we will find ourselves more committed to what inspires us and more fearful based on what are belief systems and philosophies are. This could be a time of great effort in the way of your path, or a time of constriction and fear being the primary trajectory of your spirituality and faith. And of course on a greater scale, in the world around you. Happy Full Moon Blessings! Hare Ohm For More information or a reading of your natal chart:
