On May 25th our penumbral eclipse begins at 10:47 pm Hawaii time (GMT-10) into the early morning of May 26th, finally completely ending at 3:49 am. The Total Eclipse will be from 1:11 am HT on the 26th until 1:25 am and worth staying up if you are here in Hawaii, as it will be the largest Supermoon of 2021 and the only total lunar eclipse! Pink in color and referred to as the Flower Moon for the time of year it is appearing (Spring moves towards Summer). In the Vedic system it is in the star of Anuradha, who is also represented by a flower, a lotus blooming towards the light. This can represent our enlightenment of devotion that often comes after walking a long and sometimes lonely path (the yogic path). Radha is the ultimate symbol of devotion, the lover who offers herself so totally to her beloved (Krishna) that she becomes his other half. Her love is both romantic and friendly and ultimately unconditional and complete. That is why she is the path for so many devotees, because she points us towards God. Anuradha is ruled by Mitra, the god of Friendship, who also shows us the unconditional love of friendship.
This star falls completely in sidereal Scorpio, and shows where we can elevate our emotional turmoil by turning our love to something higher than ourselves. The Moon is in debilitation in the earlier degrees of this sign in the preceding star of Vishaka, and we can see that walking alone in the sometimes dense forest can cause our fear and suffering to be heightened. The Moon wants something to roll against, and in Anuradha, we are able to lean on Love. True love is God itself. In Hawaii there is a saying, “Aloha ke akua”. This means “Love is God” and this is the essence of both Radha and Mitra. With the South node penetrating deep into not only the waters of Scorpio, but the vulnerable heart of our psyche, we can expect to learn some deep lessons here if we listen. Maybe even really begin to draw to karmic conclusion the lessons of this house for us. The north node, Rahu, in Taurus has had us focusing our energy on what we can grow and enjoy but until we plumb the depths of our shadows, we will continue to sprout more weeds than fruits. Both the Sun and Venus here, are offering us more enjoyment, pleasure and compromise which can feel soo good, but deep down we also know there is more work to be done;-) With Mercury, Saturn and Jupiter all beginning Retrograde motion in the next few weeks, we can expect to have to revisit what we’ve been rolling over. All the many pins we have stuck in things to avoid dealing with unpleasantness or hard work, are going to become loose and we will find we have made too many exceptions and need a redo. This will be collective and personal. There is anger beneath the surface that will heighten as Mars moves into debility in the sign of Cancer, where we are not able to find appropriate outlets for our fire and instead resort to emotional outbursts and passive aggression. Our societal beliefs, commitments to hard work and suffering, and our friendly communication that may not have always been honest are all going to take a backward drive through memory lane and we can expect to rethink much of the progress we thought we had made… For an in-depth exploration of this eclipse, watch the video!
