Major Transit Dates of 2023:
Planets Changing Signs: Saturn moves into Aquarius -January 17th (until March 2025) This is the biggest transit of the year, as Saturn has been in Capricorn for 3 years, since January 2020, seeing us through major changes in society and the world, as well as for many of us in our daily lives Mars moves into Gemini -March 12th (after 7 months in Taurus) This shift will be felt for sure, as Mars transit is usually much shorter and he has been creating a lot of fire in the usually grounded and pleasure-seeking sign of Taurus. Watch out for that fire in your communication when he moves into Gemini! Jupiter moves into Aries -April 21 (until May 2024) Jupiter is transitioning from his own watery abode in Pisces into the fiery kick-starting sign of Aries. Get ready to practice what you preach, and for it to be related to the strengthening your physical body. This can also be a time of individualistic philosophies and militance in our beliefs. Rahu moves into Pisces, Ketu moves into Virgo -November 28th (until June 2025) The nodes bring us to open new karma with Rahu in the realm of mystery and surrender and close old karma with Ketu on organizing all the details. If we can manage the details to bring higher freedom and see the big picture, then we can heal this karmic axis. Retrogrades: Mercury Retrograde in Capricorn back to Sagittarius (December 3-, 2022-January 18th, 2023) We need to go back to our beliefs and see how they inform our ideas and capacity to discern what is true. We also need to recognize the way in which we use communication to bypass connection. Mars Retrograde Gemini back to Taurus (Began October 30, 2022 - January 12th, 2023) Mars is moving direct in the first two weeks of the new year! This will bring us to action in the area we may have been mulling over or allowing to build up resentment. If you have felt like there’s a volcano simmering beneath the surface in one area of your life, trust that the flow can come out slow and steady and with purpose if you allow the reflection you’ve been sitting with to inform your forward motion. It can also explode, so tread carefully. Mercury Retrograde in Aries (April 21-May 14th, 2023) This will be an opportunity to reflect upon the ways in which we may be “short” in our communication and while that may get the point across quickly, it may not increase other people’s desire to hear what you have to say. It is also important to think before you speak, and to follow your thoughts and ideas through to the finish line. Saturn Retrograde in Aquarius (June 17th-November 4th, 2023) Saturn’s first retrograde cycle in Aquarius is going to be an opportunity to reflect upon how we spend our time in the larger community or world and what we are committed to. If we have determined that there is a cause we are working for, we may need to think deeper about how we are going about approaching this or if our innovative solutions carry practical enough foundations upon which to build. Venus Retrograde in Leo back to Cancer (July 22-September 3rd, 2023) This is going to a be a “redo” of any relationship drama that may have occurred as Venus transited Cancer the first time through. Any ways in which you feel taken advantage of and under-appreciated may be reflected upon and perhaps you can see your part in that dynamic. Venus is where we are learning conditional, mutual love and Cancer is where we experience unconditional love, like a mother to a child. Are you mothering your partner? Mercury Retrograde in Leo (August 23-September 15th, 2023) This third Mercury retrograde is calling upon us to reflect on how we think we know more than we do and perhaps can be domineering in our speech/communication. In what ways could we be more receptive and willing to hear others’ perspectives? Speaking with confidence is great, but so is admitting when you’re wrong or don’t actually know the answer. Jupiter Retrograde in Aries (September 4th-December 30th, 2023) This cycle is an opportunity to look at how your beliefs may just serve yourself, and do not have the expansive wisdom necessary to last the test of time. In what ways does anger, ultimately rooted in fear, create your belief systems? Is there a pathway to honor both the individual and the collective through what you idealize? If not, perhaps it is time to take a jog back down the path you started on and see where you went wayward. Mercury Retrograde in Sagittarius moving into Scorpio (December 13th-January 2nd, 2023) In this 4th (yes, we get 4 this year!) Mercury retrograde of 2023, we end off where we began, and a little behind! We need to go back even further than the root of our beliefs to see where our intellect is biased, straight into the belly of our fears. This is where we can sit with the scary feelings and understand why we had to create the beliefs we did to protect ourselves, and how we can create new ones that don’t bypass our pain, rather envelop it and incorporate it into our beliefs instead. From this place, our communication can be communicative of our real truth, what we feel. Eclipses: Solar Eclipse in Aries (Ashwini)- April 19th In this eclipse, Rahu is showing us (yet again) how we are obsessed with our own power and even when it is strong (Sun is exalted here) if we cannot contain it or call upon past wisdom that knows how to compromise, we will lose it again and again. Lunar eclipse in Libra (Vishaka)-May 5th Ketu is eclipsing the full moon in the part of Libra where we must take the road less travelled and count on our results in the future. It can be scary, and the south node may give us a feeling of “cutting ourselves off” from others, as opposed to choosing what is right for us, but if we dig deep we can find that any good relationship requires some long hard work on one’s own self. Solar Eclipse in Virgo (Chitra)- October 14th This is the final eclipse cycle with the nodes in Libra/Aries, and in this first one the eclipsing node is still in Libra, while the Sun and Moon are in Virgo. Our power is now being eclipsed by the South Node, giving us the insight to see the ways in which we struggle with the details in our efforts to be likable and beautiful.. and how we are mired in the illusion of perfection. Since we are hyper-focused on the big picture in this time, we might find we have lost sight of the structures that hold us up and how they need to be both functional and offer ease and grace in our human relations. Lunar Eclipse in Aries (Ashwini)-October 28th This final eclipse of the axis we have been in since March 2022 will show us the balance of ourselves and others. We need to show up first for ourselves and make sure we are strong, second for our close relationships and both need to work within the bigger framework of society. Whatever new karma you are opening up on your on self-trajectory, this is the gateway through which you must walk.
