![]() Blood Moon Tonight Full Moon tonight (Friday)/tomorrow morning, being eclipsed by the Earth's shadow, and lit up by the Sun shining through Earth, and creating a rim that is reflected on to the Moon, turning her luminescence blood red in color. A stunning sight, this will be the shortest eclipse in this century, lasting only 5 minutes. The Moon will begin to enter the Earth's shadow at 12:16am Friday night (technically Saturday April 4th) here in Hawaii (3:16am in California) and will be in full eclipse at 1:58am HT until 2:03am. (4:58-5:03am PT). This is our follow-up from a harsh 2 weeks after Mars joined the south node, Ketu in a solar eclipse in Pisces, and we were given a crash and burn course on our destructive habits and patterns that have yet to be healed. Our tendency was towards escape (Ketu & Pisces) and to cut off and fight (Mars). This was firmly engrained in us by a Mars-Venus conjunction that kept us fighting our partners and others until we (& they) could take it no more and had to give up and look inside for the real battle ....now we are being forced to look at areas of our life that we want to control and offer up the fruits of our actions to a bigger picture and a higher cause. The moon joins Rahu, the north node, in the sign of Virgo in the nakshatra of Hasta. Virgo is where we are meticulous; ruled by Mercury it is the sign that most enjoys organizing and categorizing and is exactly opposite the sign of Pisces, where we had the solar eclipse, and where we are losing touch with practical reality in search of a metaphysical experience. Incidentally, Virgo's ruler, Mercury finds itself debilitated in Pisces right now, struggling with impractical and fanciful distractions to its job of gathering and assimilating information. Much of what made our warfare over the last two weeks so miserable was that Mercury, our communicator, was out to lunch at sea and the ship to shore radio was on the fritz, so our speech was un-grounded, exaggeratory, and helping us fight more than connect. In the grounded, practical sign of Virgo our mind and emotions (the Moon) seek order in the midst of a chaotic-feeling eclipse where it's ruler is out to sea and it's joined Rahu who is on a fanatical and obscured search for anything it can try next to sate its unending hunger for more. This will affect whatever house, and therefore area of life, Virgo is in for you. The nodes are mathematical points in space that mark the eclipse points, and while they upset our regular everyday reality, they are powerful relayers of genius and magic; Under their influence sudden flashes of deep insight can arrive into your being. Hasta, a manifestation star, is ruled by the moon herself, and is like a healing balm on our wounds we can't stop scratching. It is the open hand, that has just released what no longer serves, and the upturned palm, ready to receive the blessings it has worked for. It is a beautiful star to surround yourself in natural beauty (particularly greenery) and calm energy. Allow your struggles both inside and out from the last two weeks to release into Mama Earth. Meditate on what you truly want, for all of humanity, to come through your divine vessel and its manifestation will begin to unfold right in the palm of your hand. The deity Savitur is the ruler of Hasta, so if it's fitting for you and part of your practice, try chanting out loud or to yourself the Gayatri Mantra, leading up to and into the eclipse for clarity. Om Bhur Bhuvah Swaha Tat Savitur Varenyam Bhargo Devasya Dhimaahi Di yo yo nah Prachodyat
