What you don’t have eyes to see, will make itself known; the past is always close behind! Beware of a fixation for the future that ignores what brought you to where you are now. The Lunar eclipse on the 18th and 19th brought us in the direction of what we desperately want to achieve in this world and now we must look where we do not necessarily want to, to see what is keeping us back. While the Full Moon in the lunar eclipse was exalted in Taurus, this Scorpio Moon is not only dark but in its sign of debilitation, where the overwhelm of emotions can be like a rollercoaster. We are deep in the trenches of our past karma, navigating the shadows of our oldest fears and traumas. The call we are hearing is to shine the light (the Sun) into the dark recesses of our psyche and allow our biggest fears to surface. Once they are out in the light of day, we can see them for what they truly are…sometimes just as horrible as we imagined, and often, way less monstrous than we configured them in our brain. Now is the time to be willing to look. We spend so much time bypassing or gaslighting our own experiences, or those of our ancestors, it is no wonder that this is so common a practice in society towards others. What we have experienced, done or had done to us, is real and deserves its moment in the light to be acknowledged. Let it be understood and then with empathy, recycle it back into your being with more clarity and a capacity to move forward in the direction of your dreams. The Total Solar Eclipse in sidereal Scorpio is December 3rd & 4th (max point is 9:33 pm HT on 12/3, 11:33 pm 12/3 PST) is only completely visible from Antartica, and parts of Southern Africa will see a partial eclipse but the effects will certainly be felt by all! The Sun is our consciousness, power, authority, the father and the government. It is one of the indicators of career (along with Saturn) and it rules whatever house Leo is in your chart. This area of your life will be eclipsed, blacked out and then reset in this time. The Sun, Moon and Mercury are all going to be in Jyestha, the eldest of the nakshtara wives of the Moon. Here we have courage, but also have to beware of our ego getting us into situations where we really have to test that courage! Jyestha is ruled by Indra, the king of the gods and is represented by a talisman, a mystical armor offering protection as well as the power of illusion. Indra is known for using the powers of illusion through his invisible net and his lightning bolt which has been fashioned by the divine architect of the gods. Ketu, the South node is a space in the sky that only becomes visible in an eclipse (just like Rahu, the north node was in the lunar eclipse). It is a fiery laser precise Graha that goes deep down into the well spring of fire and water that is Scorpio and pin points the exact place where our karma is still stuck. Here it is at home, in its sign of depth and intelligence. Specifically it is in the star of Anuradha, where devotion is key. Here we pass through the portal of our deepest fears through deep love and faith. We will never be able to foretell the consequences of our actions or the rewards, our only choice lies in our one-pointed devotion to love and complete surrender. Ketu will show us where we have an obstacle to this trust and love from our past.
At 2:43 pm HT (4:43 pm PST) on December 4th, hours after the eclipse, Mars marches into his own sign of Scorpio to make absolutely sure we are facing whatever we have been avoiding! While he stays out during the eclipse itself, and has moved out of combustion (proximity to the Sun) earlier in the week, he is going to ensure that we do not move out of December without winning this battle within ourselves. Mars and Ketu together are militant, exacting, surgical and fiery! Both distance us from others and our feelings and are ultimately strengthening us through the pain they inflict on both us and others, but they do it in different ways. Mars is physical and Ketu is psychological. Scorpio is the realm of the emotions. This is fire exploding through water. We will see this alignment implode in social and perhaps even geological ways, but within ourselves it is our deep-seeded anger surfacing through the emotions and coming up to get some air! Whatever house Scorpio is in your chart is likely to be shaken by this, especially as the two Grahas are exact on the 14th and 15th of December. Take a deep breath, try to maintain your sadhana (daily practices), and ultimately accept that you must surrender into the waves but will eventually make it back to shore with a renewed vitality that only comes from facing a kind of death. Note: This is the last week to book the *30 Minute Eclipse Special* on audio recorded readings! $50/30 min (reg. $65). On April 5th, 2021 Jupiter moved into Aquarius for 5 months. In September it went back into Capricorn, during it's retrograde cycle. As of November 20th, 2021 it will be back in Aquarius until April 13th. This is a huge shift in our societal Wisdom, Beliefs and Worldview. One we began last spring and are more ready than ever to take on for real again now! Aquarius is about the collective, humanity, and the future. It is where we see all that is not right in the world and remember the power that comes from all the voices, minds, and hands of the many.
Here we can think of things never before envisioned or created. We are moving back into a more futuristic, intellectual and technological cycle, one that will inspire us all to create systems and structures that work for us. As the old hierarchical structures are revealed more and more to be corrupt and focused on funneling resources, government and power in the hands of the few, we the people are ready to envision the world as we want it to be. If there’s anything the last year has taught us, it’s that the old way wasn’t working. Whatever we do moving forward, we have to shift our entire mindset and paradigm to reimagine a new structure of power. This is the time to build the foundation. There will of course be agendas from those in power, and so it us up to us to bring our own rightfully aligned agendas into the light instead. As the shift from Capricorn to Aquarius maintains the rulership of Saturn, but moves from Earth to Air, so will we maintain the humility and hard lessons learned in this cycle, but move from the earthbound mechanics of just doing whatever is physically in front of us that needs to be done for survival, to the brilliance of our minds and imaginations to wholly recreate what our work even looks like. For many of us this has been a long time coming and we are quite prepared. From the way food is grown and produced in the U.S to our school systems lack of holistic education, to how our society’s focus on productivity and bottom lines has separated and divided us from our innate need for community and support. The issues are endless…and SO ARE THE SOLUTIONS! It’s time to level up and solve the problems that we intimately know in ways only those who intimately know the issues can actually do. The days of the few *actually* rich men “helping” the rest of us in their preferred manner are on their way out. Communities can and will come together and take our lives and fates into our own hands by building coalitions and working towards what we want. And what each community needs to thrive will be different, and that is beautiful. We will have plenty to reckon with in terms of government, big business and technology interweaving with their own agendas, but since the eclipse points are still another year in Taurus/Scorpio there will be strong focus from individuals on creating some autonomy and working together in smaller groups with common goals and shared values. Saturn, the ruler of both Capricorn and Aquarius, will be maintaining his position in Capricorn through this transit, keeping the focus practical, hardworking and aware of time. In his highest, Saturn can give us great tools for meditation and letting go of attachments; this can help elevate our work to higher planes if we allow ourselves space and time to be alone and to go there. It’s time to GO THERE! To Find out how this transit will affect your chart specifically, sign up for my newsletter above and receive “Jupiter *Back* in Aquarius for all 12 Signs”. You will also receive “Rahu in Taurus and Ketu in Scorpio for all 12 Signs” (Plus “Mars Combust for all 12 Signs) until December, to help you navigate the eclipse portal we are currently in! Lunar Eclipse, followed by Total Solar Eclipse: November 18th-December 4th, 2021. I am also offering a *30 minute Recorded Reading Special* to help people navigate the specifics of their own chart and lives in this intense period. Open to anyone, not just previous clients! $50/30min (reg $65). May You BE Blessed! This Full Moon also marks the longest eclipse of the century, and it is happening in the star of Krittika, in sidereal Taurus. It will last 3 hours and 28 minutes; from 8:02pm to 2:03 am, with the Max point being at 11:02 pm HT (GMT-10) on November 18th. The exact degrees of the Moon and the Sun across from each other is 10:59 pm. Here we will light up and magnify the illusion of separation, but also have the insight necessary to cut through it.
Krittika is the “Cutter” or “Divider” and is symbolized by a sharp blade. It is also ruled by Agni, the god of fire, so there is a quality of illumination here. This is the place the Moon is exalted, because we are able to “cut through” the Maya in our mind and “see” the truth. Fire has a quality of digestion, so we are able to process our emotions and find the clear truth at the bottom of them. Rahu, the north node, has a dispersive, airy quality that can fan the fire of Krittika and exaggerate our need to separate, but also is more likely to be grounded and find clarity here. Taurus is not only the exaltation sign for the Moon, but for Rahu too, due to the earthy, grounded nature of the sign. Here we are less likely to disperse our energy and magnify what we see, even if just by taking the time to stop and chew some grass or take care of our most basic needs. With Rahu’s presence at all on our Moon (our psyche) and whatever house the moon rules for you, is experiencing more anxiety, unsettled feelings that stem from the “not knowing” of Rahu, since it’s new karma. The closer it is, the more intense these feelings are. When it’s actually “gobbled” in an eclipse, there’s a blackout, a reset, on that thing and in that space energetic downloads are possible. Whether they are delusional or illuminating depends on the quality if the Grahas, so here strong potential for brilliant insight. It will also depend on what we do in this time, whether we are meditating, sleeping or partying for example. The quieter we are, the more we hear. And of course, what house Taurus is for you and if you have planets there etc. Anuradha, where Ketu is now residing, is the star of devotion and is depicted by a flower on the finish line. Ruled by the god of friendship, Mitra, here we are able to put aside all earthly concerns in favor of high love and devotion, as Radha has towards her Beloved, Krishna. Here we see a fixation, which is quite different from Ketu, where we are more cutting and fiery (like Krittika). This dichotomy of the nodes in stars that carry energy more similar to the nakshatra the opposite node is in, is giving us an opportunity to balance their chaotic and delusional quality. It is also likely to feel a little uncomfortable, as the place where we are devoted and loving is where we may be trying our best to avoid and the place where we are cutting and divisive is where we are fixated. The Sun, visiting the end of Vishaka, the star of one-pointed focus, a solitary path and fruits that come over the long haul, is contributing to the feeling that "we are here alone" or "we alone are here.” With Venus in Sagittarius, still giving us difficulty relating on a human level and creating some spiritual bypassery and Mars still close enough to the Sun to be combust, but in Libra where we are also individuating ourselves in relationships, we may be in a real push and pull with others in our lives. Mercury is in sweet dignity here in Libra, but joined Mars can make us inexplicably harsh and direct in our words. Jupiter, the ruler of Venus is finishing his final days in Capricorn, so we can see our beliefs will start to move a little and pick up some air back in Aquarius. We will also see more people fighting for social justice and calling out corruption. This will help point our fear in a productive direction and also offer some more humanity and empathy in our relations, instead of just focusing on what’s ailing ourselves. Saturn is still holding court in Capricorn for the long haul, reminding us that we’re all just going to die one day anyhow, so better not get too attached to anything. To Book a Reading: The New Moon is in the nakshatra Swati on November 4th at 11:14 am HT (GMT-10), and also marks the Festival of Lights known as Diwali. This 5 day celebration of the triumph of the light over darkness comes importantly with this New Moon because our two luminaries will both be in a state of debilitation. The Sun is debilitated in Libra because it is where we give our power and authority over to others, as opposed to standing in strength with Source being our guiding light. The New Moon is when the Moon and Sun pass through the same constellation in exact degrees from our perspective here on Earth, and it is also a time when the Sun “eclipses” the Moon, as opposed to illuminating it, and so our mind is more quiet, dark and can tend towards depression. This is a more meditative and solitary time of the month. While the Sun remains in a constellation for a month, the Moon moves quickly on, putting it in its lowest state of operating intelligence in sidereal Scorpio soon after this New Moon. Scorpio is where we are emotional, fiery and controlling. It is the place where our real and imagined fears can be magnified and we must battle the shadows. Since the Moon is the mind and emotions, it can be quite a roller coaster ride here! The Moon is where we want to connect and when the mind is projecting its own movie with a plot line that is mistrustful of others, then it is difficult to have true connection. This is exacerbated this year by the presence of the South Node, Ketu at 7 degrees Scorpio, giving us a laser sharp focus on exactly what disgusts us most about our fear and trauma (in what ever area of life Scorpio rules for you), and giving us a somewhat removed experience from our own feelings.
All of this is to say that our confidence and emotional security are being challenged from what we perceive to be outside of ourselves (relationships, situations, circumstances), but the true source of our dim light and fearful emotions is within us and thus can be evolved. If we were to look at our power differently, we would not need to “give it away” because we would understand that no one owns it or doles it out. Power just is. Like the Sun itself. It is Consciousness itself. It can only be realized, not passed around like Halloween candy. If we choose to follow someone other than our own guiding light that is a choice we are making and we are just as able to make a different one. It is the potential fear of losing others if we don’t follow them, or show up for them that creates these choices in our brains and the sign of Libra is where we are confronted with “others”. While many aspects of ourselves as shown through the Grahas (the planets) need to understand compromise (like in our communication, with Mercury, or our relationships, with Venus), our authority is not something that can be bargained or traded. Ultimately, authority that is given by others can also be taken away if you do not do their bidding, so it is not actual authority. Whereas, the authority that comes with actually knowing more than others on a subject, or by being a parent to children born from you, or in having such a strong stance on an issue or belief that you live it and others want to emulate you, is real. No one bestows it upon you, it is a realization within yourself that it exists and you merely act within that discovered reality. Diwali comes as a reminder of the light within, the candle that is always lit no matter what external reality you are mired in. While more darkness is surrounding us in the Northern Hemisphere daily, we are moving towards the darkest night of the year. This is a time of shedding, decay and resolution. As we move towards our final two eclipses of the Taurus/Scorpio axis, culminating with the total solar eclipse on Dec 4th, we are being asked to follow Ketu’s penetrating tail to pierce the heart of what we fear most and see it transform! Swati is the star that is in the middle of Libra and shows where we are trying to differentiate ourselves in spite of our need to be accepted and liked. Swati is ruled by Rahu and its diety is Vayu, the god of the Wind. This shows the airy and often delusional nature of Swati, where we might find ourselves swatting imaginary demons all around us, as opposed to the clean decisive action of one good swing of the sword. Here our real goal is to find the confidence to know that a true warrior will seldom use their weapons and that much of what we think we are fighting against is actually a creation of our own doing. If we look to others to validate our power, we can just as easily look to ourselves and know it is inherent. This star leads to Vishaka, where the Moon is debilitated, a nakshatra that falls mostly in Libra and the final pada is that debilitation point in Scorpio. In Vishaka we are walking the path on our own and it is often dark, or overgrown and full of scary sounds. It is with time and age that we are able to yield the fruits of our energy and output. We must let faith and our good teachings be the guide (as shown by Jupiter’s rule) and burn our ego struggles in the sacrificial fire (Vishaka diety is Indra-Agni, the aspect of fire that is sacrificial). It is no accident that the nakshatras behind the constellation of Libra are teaching us to follow our own lead, this is the ultimate lesson for Libra where we can over-compromise and leave ourselves feeling depleted or bereft. Right now we have Mercury and Mars joined this Sun and Moon and while Mercury is usually very happy to be here where communication can focus on connection and harmony, it is also going to feel the heat of the combust Mars. If you haven’t gotten your FREE report “Mars combust for all 12 Signs” yet, go to http://www.alexiscoxyoga.com/forecasts to sign up for my newsletter and get instant access to that as well as 2 other Key Transit reports! With Mars putting our anger on a short fuse, we can expect Mercury to feel this anger and try to find a nice way of communicating it. Taking a few breaths before speaking or responding might not be a bad idea! Mars’ anger comes from a lack of personal discipline. Discipline is the highest form of self-care, so when we choose others over what we need to do for ourselves to keep us strong, protected and active towards our goals, we will feel angry at others when it is actually ourself who gave away our energy to something/one else! The ruler of all those planets in Libra, Venus just moved herself into Sagittarius, in the chaotic star of Mula, “the root”. Mula is where we upheave and pull out from the roots anything that is not serving us. Relationships in particular may feel uprooted right now and this last week (also whatever area of your life Venus rules as a house lord). Venus in Sagittarius is where we have a tendency to over-ride people’s real human issues with a spiritual belief or ideology that may or may not be a “truth” but is not tending to the person in front of us in a way that indicates care and relating. Be careful of simplifying, giving advice or being quick to respond when a loved one shares with you their thoughts, feelings or experiences. Now is a time to really sit with the darkness and light your own candle within. All the power exists within. Our true connection to others can only exist when we show up as our true self. Hare Ohm.
