![]() The Full Moon on Sunday will be at its closest point to the Earth, causing it to appear 14% larger and 30% brighter than most full moons do to us. The eclipse will fully shadow the Moon when the Earth passes between the Sun and the Luminescent Orb, save the edges, which will reflect a dark red glow on the Moon as the light refracts through the atmosphere. [More information on that can be found here: http://www.wired.com/…/…/watch-weekends-total-lunar-eclipse/] For people who live on the East Coast of the United States, you will be experiencing this natural phenomena at prime time, with the Moon starting to enter the Earth's shadow just after 9 pm and being fully eclipsed by 10 pm, remaining so for an hour! This means, on the West Coast, the Sun will be going down as it's becoming fully shadowed, and you will be able to witness the duration of the full eclipse....Sadly, this is one of the few times we in Hawaii might wish we were on the mainland, because we will still be in full daylight here at 4 pm and will only be able to soak in the vibrations and view the Super Moon once the eclipse has passed. Astrologically-speaking, this event is one that has a lot of potential for both practical and spiritual insight. We have the Moon being eclipsed by the South node, Ketu, in the sign of Pisces. Both Ketu and Pisces bring us beyond the ins and outs of our daily life and offer us mystical insight into hidden realms, past incarnations, and higher levels of consciousness. The other-worldly sign of the Fish is footless and may swim in many directions. This can be a place in ourselves where we find our full spiritual potential to be free of the material world and its clingings, or it can be the place in our lives where we escape into dream-soaked apathy, floating directionless at sea. Ketu brings a critical and annoyed energy to our Moon, our Mind and Emotions, but also a deep inner knowing if we can tune in past our regular every day experience here on Earth. Since Ketu withdraws from wherever it is in our charts, we will find this Full Moon/Eclipse to be an ideal time to withdraw your mind into mediation rather than trying to engage it in mentally stimulating environment.... The Moon will be Full in the nakshatra of Uttara Bhadrapada, or "later blessed result". This star takes us from our "Aha!" moment of recognizing our Self as Divine beings found in the previous nakshatra, Purva Bhadrapada ("early blessed result") where the Moon will be on Saturday, down into the depths of our own psyche to genuinely transform. This nakshatra is ruled by the serpent deity, Ahir Bhudnya who is an aspect of Lord Shiva that is both fierce and transformative, as he uses his serpentine qualities to burrow down into our Fear, so that it may become our Love and we can Live in Peace. Here we do the necessary work or practices to make genuine spiritual progress and alchemical shifts. Meanwhile, across the sky in the constellation Virgo, in exact degrees opposite the Moon, is the Sun, our Soul Power and the bringer of Light. The Sun is joined by Rahu, the north node who partially eclipsed him 2 weeks ago and the part of our Psyche that makes us feel obsessed and unsettled. He is also joined by an Exalted and Retrograde Mercury here in Virgo, which is giving us a much needed pause in our output of information, to allow for a deeper integration of what we are taking in intellectually. Our sense of Power is fixated on the practical details necessary to orchestrate our deepest potential as leaders, and our buddhi, or discrimination, is giving us the opportunity to listen with a clear ear. With the Moon being eclipsed in Pisces by the South node, now could be a time for major insight on both a physical and metaphysical level. Open yourself to the energetic possibilities by meditating, praying, chanting, music-making, swimming, or immersing yourself in nature. People with planets in Virgo or Pisces will be especially lit up by this event. Realize that not all people have a path or a spiritual practice and that many people will misuse this energy by surrounding themselves with the mundane details of life or the utter escape from reality. This will leave them feeling frustrated by Rahu and irritated by Ketu, so embrace all of humanity with your prayers and be careful of being critical or judge mental of others. We may not have the best view of the phenomena in the sky here in Hawaii, but we definitely live in the perfect place to fully experience the magic of its energy, and on Sunday Funday, nonetheless;-) Finally, Mars in Leo will be aspecting the Moon on Friday leading up to and into the Full Moon, as well as two other aspects he is making to Saturn and Ketu that are already in effect. Mars brings an intense energy of action and discipline that can aggravate to aggression or anger on a dime. This may cause us some stress personally and especially when Mars engages with the two malefics Ketu and Saturn, it can bring sudden unexpected events in an explosive or destructive manner. Mars is joined Jupiter in Leo, where the two bring the promise of inspired action, but not everyone is inspired by sattwic, uplifting and harmonious motivation and Mother Earth is not always gentle as she teaches and transforms. Mercury Retrograde, Sun Changes Signs: Vedic Astrology Report for Thursday, September 17th, 20159/17/2015 ![]() Mercury moved Retrograde today just after 8 am here in Hawaii, Thursday, September 17th. The planet of our Communication and Discrimination is best known for messing up our lives when it goes Retrograde by causing our tools of communication to crash or fail. This Retrograde cycle the planet is in its exaltation sign, which is also its own sign, of Virgo. Here we have the objectivity, flexibility and mental acuity to sort through facts and figures and come to unbiased understanding. Our communication also holds this clarity and practicality. With its Retrograde motion, we will experience a hesitation and delay in our communication and even in the intellect itself. This serves to help us Reflect and Integrate our mental experience before moving forward. It may be extra frustrating when the planet is exalted because the feeling of clarity is there, but not the forward trajectory or ability to "get it out there". Use this opportunity to listen, rather than speak:-) Mercury is joined the obsessive and mysterious North node of the Moon, Rahu. This alignment will be useful in reining in the part of us that goes around devouring all the information in sight, and allow us to instead slow down, listen to and internalize the sudden flashes of insight this often confusing, other-worldly node might bring us. Last night the Sun moved into Virgo, to join Mercury and Rahu, taking our sense of Power and bringing in a much stronger ideal of responsibility. Virgo is where we pay attention to details, both in fault-finding and in making things happen. Unlike, the Sun in its own sign of the Lion, who naturally stands up to be seen and heard, the Sun in Virgo is more behind-the-scenes in its Leadership role. We will see a dramatic shift from "show-boating" our authority to basing it on the practical truths that facts, figures and details offer both on a global scale, and within our own lives and selves. With the action planet Mars now in Leo (see Tuesday's report) we are ready to listen to others, think, and then act on our ideals rather than just speak them on a pulpit. Be careful of trying to discipline others or blaming them for your own feeling of unrest; work instead on self-discipline physically and as you navigate the details of your endeavors. Hare Ohm For More information, or to learn how these transits will affect your natal chart, visit: www.alexiscoxyoga.com The planet Mars moved from its month and a half bout in Cancer, where our planet of Action and Discipline was debilitated. As of early this morning (Tuesday, September 15) in Hawaii, Mars moved into Leo, joining Jupiter and the Sun in this sign of Power and Responsibility. In Leo, Mars feels empowered and directed and we will all likely feel the shift from struggling to act, to being much more disciplined and ready to march in the direction of our responsibilities and ideals and beliefs. One thing to watch for, is our Anger towards anything we think is keeping us from our higher calling, as Mars energy can also be expressed at others in that way, when we aren't using his power to self-discipline. While he was in Cancer, his energy was quite clouded and tired, so we didn't have the Strength to get stuff done, or really to get that riled up. This is the time to get back to waking up early, and taking care of your body's physical needs, as well as whatever Action you need to take in this world.
He will be giving his dristhi, or glare, at both Saturn in Scorpio and Ketu in Pisces. This can help to strengthen Saturn since the planet of our Fear is quite unstable in Mars' own sign of Scorpio and it will add some combustibility to Ketu, the critical South node of the Moon who has a tendency to bring harshness to our reality and sudden, unexpected events. Saturn is also giving drishti back to Mars, offering humility and perseverance as well as hesitance and doubt. This alignment will show us that strengthening our bodies alone will leave us fighting battles we are not aligned with. We must have a purpose, a belief as shown by Jupiter's presence and we must be inspired and have power and Sattwic intention as shown by the Sun. But we must also fight our inner battles and our fears, so that we maintain our alignment with our Self. Hare Ohm ![]() The New Moon is happening Saturday, September 12th at 8:41 pm here in Hawaii (11:41pm Pacific Time) and there will be a partial solar eclipse also. While the eclipse will only be visible from Southern Africa and Antartica, the effects will be felt nonetheless. The New Moon occurs when the Sun and Moon join together in exact degrees of the same sign, in this case, Leo. The Sun has already been in Leo for a few weeks and is in its own sign here, lending us Strength, Power, Leadership and a heightened sense of Responsibility. Leo is a sattwic sign, meaning it reaches for the universal benefit, peace and harmony. This cycle marks a beginning of really stepping into our power and owning our duties towards all of society. The Sun has been quite close to Jupiter, giving us all a testiness regarding our teachers, teachings, and highest beliefs, but as he pulls away from the planet of our Highest Beliefs and Ideals, we will begin to feel more aligned with whatever it is we believe and standing on stronger ground. This New Moon will be occurring in the nakshatra, the specific star cluster, of Purva Phalguni who is ruled by Venus and the deity Bhaga, who is the God of delight and pleasure and reminds us that lusting after life with our eyes can make us blind to inner beauty. We are also reminded that a lazy King will misuse his kingdom to make only himself happy. We must be careful of being superficial or overly sensual, especially when we take on rolls of leadership and power! The New Moon is a time for inner reflection and meditation, as the Moon going dark represents our own minds full of thoughts and emotions also waning to dark. The Moon is now, on Thursday morning, moving out of conjunction with Venus and into conjunction with Mars, both in Cancer. Venus just stopped her Retrograde motion this past Sunday and has been stationary, leaving us having re-lived and processed through much of our struggles in relationships and in being happy in general, only to feel muddled and stuck this week. She will begin her forward motion again by the New Moon/Eclipse, allowing us to pick up the pieces of ourselves, and finally leave behind the past. Venus has been joined Mars in Cancer, creating heightened passions both sexually and argumentatively for us in our relations, and now as the Moon passes through Cancer and joins Mars, we may be really feeling the emotional side of all we've been through. This is even more reason to take this New Moon inside, and allow yourself the time to release all that is not serving you-emotionally and physically. Let it go. Expect some confusion and uncertainty, as the Eclipse brings us close to the point in space wherein lies Rahu, the north node of the Moon that will be partially eclipsing the Sun. If we allow ourselves to honor the quiet within, perhaps some truly enlightening flashes of insight will come our way, but we may have trouble trusting it. Don't rush anything, especially as the Moon will be passing directly through Rahu's realm of existence late Sunday night. This will keep us in a state of uncertainty in our practical world, yet open our Mind up for potential wisdom from other realms. Rahu's energy can feel chaotic, so Meditation, Pranayama, and Ceremony are encouraged to keep you tuned in! Many, many blessings for your Re-lease and Renew...Hare Ohm For More Information or to Schedule a Reading of your Natal Chart, go to: Or
