New Moon in Pushya: Nurture Yourself

7/27/2022

The New Moon in sidereal Cancer is July 28th at 7:55 am HT (10:55 am PDT) in the star of Pushya. This Moon will bring us into our emotions, and our need to nurture ourselves. Pushya is “the nourisher” and is a space in the sky that shows us the way of wisdom is through love and devotion. Particularly the unconditional love of a mother to her child is called for, where all of us is welcome. The symbol for this star is a cow’s udder or a lotus flower.  As Ram Das said, “Feed people and love them.” A mother instinctively knows to feed her child as soon as its born, and she continues to feed them food, love, care and guidance as it grows. Like a flower, the child will grow to the highest of their capability with the more love they receive. Cancer brings out the part of us that is vulnerable, caring and sensitive and deeply longs to connect. Here, we can remember to offer ourselves unconditional love also as we move through our emotions and allow ourselves to be exactly as we are. Spending time in or near water, resting and eating nourishing foods can all be ways to take care of ourselves when we feel sensitive.

We have Mercury joined our Sun and Moon in Cancer, where our communication can be connective and compassionate, but can also be overly sensitive to the words of others and side-stepping to avoid conflict, like a crab. In the star of Aslesha, we can plumb great depths in our intellect, but we can also become very attached to our ideas and have trouble releasing them when the time has come.
Venus in Gemini is offering us some camaraderie, humor and objectivity in our relationships, and can also be flirtatious and overly mental in our connections.

Mars and Rahu conjunction is getting closer every day, moving to exact on August 1st. This alignment is one where we have to be mindful of where we are exacerbating fiery situations. Rahu, the North Node, is suspicious, dispersive and erratic as it stops and starts new things. Mars is where we have courage and discipline, and also anger and action. In his own sign of Aries, we may be strong and ready to show up for our battles, but with Rahu we may be delusional about what those battles are and less controlled and contained with our fire than we can clearly see. This is the time for all the hard work and discipline that you have been doing to pay off. The more you practice mindful and physical activities in a regular and consistent way, the more you will be able to direct this energy to fearlessly begin something new as opposed to spraying your energy all over the place fighting false wars. Cool down, ground and practice pranayama to maintain your calm and center in the midst of any chaos that ensues. This alignment can bring fires, accidents and arguments, so it is important to be watchful of not just your own energetics, but of those around you as well.

Saturn is solidly back in Capricorn now and across from this Moon, reminding us of the lessons we thought we already learned over the last couple years. Hang in there, sometimes the best things in life take time and we want whatever we commit to to be built on solid ground.

Jupiter in his own sign of Pisces is helping us maintain high ideals and connect to truth despite any anger or sorrow that Mars and Saturn can be bringing right now. He is reminding us that growth is not a place, rather a mindset and that we can always be in a state of expansion towards truth.

Guru Purnima: Revealing the Light

7/11/2022

The Full Moon on July 13th is at 8:37 am HT (11:37 am PDT) so the night before will be its strongest energy. This Moon is called Guru Purnima, in the Hindu month of Ashada. It is falling in sidereal Sagittarius, ruled by Jupiter, Guru himself. The word Guru means to bring darkness to light, and one who receives this name is the revealer of that light. Jupiter rules two signs, the one the Moon is in and Pisces, the one Jupiter is transiting himself. In a world full of false teachings, advertisements, propaganda and an image-oriented reality crafted on social media, we are in a proverbial desert of truth, blinded by mirages and so thirsty for moisture that we will drink sand if someone tells us a grain might contain some water. This Moon is our reminder that truth is in you now, and always has been. That the water, the moisture, the Amrita (sweet nectar) lives in you now. It is accessible by remembering it is so. Sagittarius reminds us to go out and seek what has already been taught, and learned and to follow in the footsteps of those who know. To stay on the path and to use the tools and teachings at your disposal to not get lost. Pisces reminds us that it is ultimately all an illusion, and helps us dissolve the structures when we are ready for the experience of Oneness.

The particular nakshatra this Full Moon falls in is called Uttara Ashada, and is the “later victory”. Uttara Ashada is ruled by the Vishwadevas, all the deities, which is powerful rulership to have and what contributes to the victory in this star! It is symbolized by an elephant’s tusk, showing the power, wisdom and primal quality that is required to get this far. Bridging Sagittarius and Capricorn, it is where we see our teachings land on earth. When we have high ideals, but lack humility, we can become nothing more than pulpit standers, but when we can walk the walk and bow as low to the ground as we do rise high to the sky, then we are teaching by example. The fruits of our earlier efforts can be seen here, and one of those fruits is the right to put in more effort;-)

Saturn Retrograde is now back in his own sign of Capricorn and some old fears may be resurfacing, especially around survival. We will see this individually and also in the collective. This Saturn is giving his one way dristhi (energetic gaze) to Jupiter in Pisces, so while our teachings may be pure, some *appropriate* fear may be seeping in. What are we committed to? What have we swept past in our effort to move on from the last two years. Saturn is not letting us off the hook!

Venus has joined Mercury and the Sun in Gemini, bringing playfulness and mental energy into our relationships. Perhaps a good time to discuss sensitive subjects while we have some objectivity, humor and strong discrimination and communication skills!

Finally Mars is every day closer to Rahu, the north node, and increasing the heat and spread of the heat! This is a crucial time to stick to practices that work for you and use the elements of water and earth to find grounding and hydration/cooling. If you want to know what house is being lit on fire by this duo, check out the FREE report “Mars and Rahu in Aries for all 12 Signs” when you sign up for my mailing list in the above right corner.

Happy Guru Purnima, may light be shed where there has been darkness!

Mars & Rahu in Aries (June 26th-August 10th)

7/3/2022

Picture
Can you feel things heating up?? Mars has entered sidereal Aries on June 26th, joining the North Node, Rahu,  and will remain in his own sign of New Beginnings until August 10th. Mars is the planet of Discipline, Courage, Action and yes, Anger. In his own sign of Aries he is strong, yet can also make harsh and quick choices that come from a black and white perspective. This can easily lead to fighting and disciplining others, instead of the strong personal courage and regular, repeated action that truly strengthens our own Self. Rahu is the wily North Node that is but a head without a body. Here we devour whatever area of life he is in, and do not have the full capacity to learn from our mistakes. We are “new” at whatever area of life Aries is for you (scroll down to get your FREE report for each Rising Sign) and we have a tendency to act without taking advice. While Mars is fiery, direct and even militant, Rahu is airy, dispersive and mired in illusion. The combination can be quite intense, as we might get angry based on misperceptions and act out immediately, without regard for the consequences, or even the truth.

Rahu in Aries is already creating a more self-centric atmosphere, where we are not as concerned about others or getting along. Joined Mars, the action in this regard is more cutting, harsh and confident. Confidence is great if we know where we are coming from is right, at least for us, but when mixed with the confusion and delusion of the node, the potential for blowing up unnecessarily is high. This can lead to arguments, abruptly ending relationships and fighting, as well as social and geological catastrophes.

With Saturn heading back into Capricorn, our fear is also building and as Retrograde, it is internalized. So rather than expressing our fear, we are feeling it intensely within ourselves but acting out with our anger instead. This is going to continue to build until on August 1st, Mars and Rahu will be exactly conjunct. The potential for militance and external expressions of this wild fire is going to be at a pitch. Mercury will move into Leo on this day, also moving us into verbal dominance and Saturn will be giving a one-way dristhi (gaze) to Jupiter in Pisces, bringing fear to even our beliefs and capacity for wisdom!

The good news is we have some time before this alignment really heats up to really build our daily discipline and to work on releasing our triggers in the moment. We can use calming and cooling pranayama like sithali, Nadi shodhana, counted breaths to tame the flames, rather than fanning them with rajasic practices like breath of fire. We can show up on our yoga mat, or our surf board or in other ways that ground us and cool us off. We can really notice our triggers and take space and time before reacting or acting. And we can take time for ourselves, and off of media, to avoid getting riled up by other people’s fire works. Hydration is key here, drinking water and swimming in it if possible, as well as spending plenty of time in the earth element!

The other news, is that for each of us this will be exploding in a different house and Mars is ruling 2 different areas of our life. This can be an incredibly transformative time, with a lot of intelligence running for those on a path towards self-betterment, and a massive fast-forward in certain areas of your life!
