The total span of the eclipse this Tuesday is from 9:55 am (PDT) to 2:50 pm (PDT), with the maximum eclipse being at 12:22 pm (PDT). This phenomena will not be observable from the United States, but will be from South America and some South Pacific locations. The Moon will be exactly lined up to block the Sun from the Earth in what is known as a Total Solar Eclipse. The astrological implications here are enormous. This is a “Reset” on what we think we know in contrast to what we think we believe. We had the eclipse points, or the lunar nodes, settle into the Gemini/Sagittarius axis in late March, and surely have noticed a shift in where our energy is going, but this first eclipse of the cycle is the “activator” of the new cycle and promises to be intense. If you haven't yet read my FREE report “The Nodal Axis and You” I recommend it now, b/c it will highlight which area of your life, based on your Vedic rising sign is “up” in this new cycle and in this eclipse on Tuesday. The axis of Gemini and Sagittarius is one of Facts, Information and Communication versus Beliefs, Inspiration and Conviction. We can see this on every public stage, as well as the ones within our own private lives. For each of us a different area of our life is highlighted, but the theme of Truth from Facts/Information vs. Truth from Teachings/Wisdom is definitely up for everyone. With Rahu, the North Node, in Gemini, we are obsessed with finding information and data to support our beliefs, and we are taking it all in (and likely dispensing much of it out again) in a frenzy and magnifying what we find to be a “truth” we know because the data supports it. With Saturn Retrograde joined the South Node, Ketu in Sagittarius, we are pulling back from beliefs and ideals and reconsidering what commitments we've made around those beliefs. The recent transit of Mars joined Rahu across from this Saturn/Ketu brought out a militance and anger that might have really carried forth some action and now that Mars is debilitated in Cancer, we are feeling our anger in more emotional and passive aggressive ways and are not so action-oriented. Mercury is joined Mars, making communication challenging right now because we are leaning towards the emotional and frustrated and not as able to make clear what we actually need and want because we are using unconditional love as a currency. We are acting out of “love” and not being clear with our boundaries, then feeling upset because the other people are not reciprocating the way we want them too. This can be tricky when planets are in Cancer, and especially our communication planet suffers here. To make matters incidentally better, Mercury will begin its second Retrograde cycle of 2019 this week, July 7th. While we are already in the “pre-phase”, we are about to get very delayed at expressing our emotions and considering that Mars and Mercury joined has created some anger and outpouring in this department, we can hope that a bit of a delay might give us a chance to think before we speak. Planets that are not in high intelligence in a sign, such as Mercury in Cancer, actually do better in retrograde cycles because that delay gives them time to reassess and either say nothing or think about getting it out differently. Mercury will be retrograde for 3 weeks, and so it will be travelling back to Gemini pretty soon. In Gemini, Mercury is in its powerful state of clear thinking and objective information-processing. It will be a hindrance for sure, to be in Retrograde. The right thought comes, and then we let it go or don't say it and then the moment has passed. Likewise, the part most people dislike and fear, when our electronic devices, communication agents go awry and cause us valuable moments lost at work and in our personal lives. Learning to Listen and slow down will always be the lesson in Mercury Retrograde...and not blaming everything on that! Lol, both Jupiter and Saturn have been retrograde for months and will continue to be, and trust me, they are messing with you a lot more than Mercury ever will! The exact time of the New Moon (Sun and Moon in exact degrees) is 12:16 pm. It is in the star Ardra, one that is on the same axis as the one our Full Moon was in two weeks ago (Mula). If Mula is about uprooting ourselves and our beliefs, Ardra is about the sh$%t storm that does it for us. The myth around Ardra is one where the creator is shot down to Earth in a tumultuous storm and all the catastrophies (earthquakes, hurricanes, tornadoes, fires etc) are created, as well as all disease, invasive species and human fallibility. This New Moon is also joined Venus, bringing us a desire to get along and to find harmonious resolutions. This is a huge blessing, considering the Mercury/Mars situation in Cancer and since Mercury will be retrograde, this will also help us to use our “pause” to listen and try to find a less hurtful or aggressive way of moving forward with our communication. With Jupiter also still Retrograde, as I mentioned earlier, we are still very much questioning our ideals and what inspires us, through the experience of self-evaluation and stepping into our own shadows, since he is in Scorpio. The main thing we can all hold onto right now is that we are going through a period of a lot of confusion and with the eclipse, delusion as well. While major insights are possible and even probable in the right circumstances with the eclipse, so is seeing things through distorted goggles. Not a good time to distort them even more with alcohol and drugs and definitely, during the eclipse itself, the least amount you can be out and about, the better. We do not operate well in the “real” world through the lens of the nodes, they are more “other-worldly” in quality. To gain insight, meditating or practicing something that brings you to that state is ideal and not taking care of everyday work or personal errands or tasks. This may only be so avoidable, given the day and time for many of us, but you can consciously take a pause, at least around the max time (12:22pm PDT) and go within. Early Monday morning, June 17th, at 1:31 am Pacific Time, the Sun will be directly across from the Moon, illuminating it in Full light. This Full Moon traverses the most disruptive gandanta point of the Vedic zodiac, the place between sidereal Scorpio and Sagittarius, called Abhukta Mula. The three water signs end and unlike all the endings of other signs, there is no nakshatra to bridge the abrupt start of the fire sign following it. These gandanta points are karmic knots that stop us, tie us up and create confusion and trouble. Without the fluidity of a transitive star, we feel stuck, knotted and the jolt of jumping into the inimical element of fire after water brings our emotions to a boiling point quick. This chaotic place in the sky is from 29:12 Scorpio to 0:48 minutes Sagittarius in the nakshatras of Jyestha and Mula. Jyestha is where we find great courage, maybe even unwise bravado, and Mula is where we rip whatever it is we are sitting on up from the roots to start anew. This often cruel, always uncertain, part of the sky is where we make a move to be brave, despite our great fear and create a new playing field by destroying the old one.
The Moon winds up in Mula at the end of the Purnima tithi (full phase of the moon) and here our mind and emotions do a wild dance that is both freeing and utterly destructive. Nirriti is the goddess of this star and while related to the dark Mother, Kali, she is neither motherly or seducer of Shiva, the great destroyer. She is more like a tornado, a whirlwind that sweeps through and pulls everything up, throwing it into a wild swirl in the sky and then taking off as it all falls back down in pieces. The gaping holes in the ground the only sign that something was once built there. Having just crossed through conjunction with Retrograde Jupiter, we are questioning our belief systems and the outside structures that hold them in place. Moving into Sagittarius, this theme continues, and up next will be conjunction with Retrograde Saturn and the South Node Ketu, across from Mars and the North Node Rahu. Having just passed through exact dristhi (energetic gaze) of these four malifics, our psyche will now be feeling the aftermath of that, deeply questioning what we have committed to in relation to those beliefs. As the anger simmers in Gemini, the place where we think, question and speak, the fear and disgust is beginning to solidify and freeze again after the fire-strike from across the sky last week. Mercury joined closely to Mars and Rahu, may be creating a strong speech but with all in Gemini, we are trying to find truth now, albeit with some distortions and exaggerations. The Sun just crossed into Gemini bringing our glaring rays of discernment in line with our consciousness and neat little lies are going to continue to be exposed. With both of our “social” planets, Mercury and Venus in their own signs right now, the capacity to relate in a reasonable and harmonious way is high, allowing us to divert anger and fear in the face of actual other humans. This is necessary if we are ever to get past our strong convictions that what we believe is right. We have an total solar eclipse coming July 2nd and this will be in the sister-star of Mula, Ardra, where we experience the epic downfall of humankind in a storm of righteous anger...so hang in there and keep uncovering more truth. Question your beliefs, without uprooting your entire value system, and above all, be kind. Hare Ohm Want to know how these transits will affect your natal chart? While this cycle will focus on grounding, pleasure and enjoying the beauty of our sensory experiences, there will also be some challenges in June.
Rohini is the star that is considered the loveliest of the them all, by both her father, the creator and her husband, the Moon. She is the rosy red girl at her prime of sensuality and she brings about the envy of all the other stars, her sisters. In an effort to create the most beautiful creatures he can, her father chooses her to procreate with, and when she finds out, she is not ok with this. She turns herself into a deer and runs away. The other aspects of God see what is happening and take all their collective anger and strength and make another aspect that howls so loud he breaks the world with his sound, creating hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes and disease. This creation, Rudra, shoots down Prajapati, the creator, as he chases his daughter through the sky. He falls to earth and with him come all that is wrong with humanity. The star this epic storm turned downfall falls in, Ardra, is the one the Moon will be in two days after the New Moon, joining Mars. Expect intense, angry emotions to reign on June 5th, as we navigate this roller coaster, a precursor to the exact dristhi between Mars/Rahu and Saturn/Ketu that will be on June 13th, with Mercury only a few degrees behind in Gemini, bringing precise and willing language to the scene. The planet Mars, our sense of anger, discipline and courage is already now moving into a direct line of dristhi with Saturn, the planet of fear, hard work and humility. Saturn is joined Ketu, the South node of the Moon and the combination creates a disengagement with what scares us, and likewise with what keeps us humble. Saturn is the planet of Time, and our awareness of how little is left of it. Ketu is a fiery nature that deludes us into thinking we already know everything. We tend to feel disgust in an exacting and cutting way, where the South node resides. Despite the microscopic lens that Ketu is focusing our fears through right now, it is delusional in that it does not allow us to pull back and see the bigger picture. Saturn brings us hesitancy and an icy calm that chooses freeze over fight. When Mars enters the picture , we see an exchange occurring that I wrote about a month ago, when it was a one-way gaze, but this time it will be mutual. Mars is moving ever-closer to the North Node, Rahu, which magnifies and exxagerates what is sees. This anger and magnification will be upon our icy frozen disgust with the planet of communication, Mercury, coming up in the wings. In the sign of Gemini, our facts (or the facts we believe to be true) will be giving a piece of mind to our beliefs (the ones we hold as true as facts) and there can be a showdown. With the ice broken by fiery rage, the cold and cruel part of Saturn, with the surgical skill of Ketu will reveal itself, and we can all expect an ugly battle to rage on every platform, including the one within our own Self. The saving grace here is that the cycle is that of Taurus and the Sun will remain there as the Moon moves on, with Venus to join right after the New Moon. These two will imbue us with a desire to get along and feel peace, but as anyone knows, the bull is calm until provoked, and then it can also see red. Taurus also brings out our stubborn nature, so we may not budge, despite a desire to feel connection and a higher consciousness related to such. This may bring people to “shout in their own camps” as oppose to taking on people who disagree with them, but it will also likely quietly end some friendships and other types of alliances and relationships as both Saturn and Taurus would rather avoid than fight. We can expect some new explosive facts or details to be uncovered that could shatter the “opposition” in whatever we believe, and while Saturn brings us a strong commitment to our ideals and philosophies in Sagittarius, both Jupiter and Saturn are retrograde, so we could very well be questioning them. Ketu brings disgust, but it will be with the hard work of serving our own beliefs as well as with the very convictions themselves, and of course still with the “ignorant” people who don't know what we know. The other thing to note, is that a militant nature can and will be present, as well as an upheaval to the law and those that represent it. Sagittarius is representative of the law and Gemini of the media. With the past month bringing in the U.S. a sweep of abortion bans in Southern states and some of the most draconian vaccination mandates proposed to-date through the liberal states, we can see that the politicians have decided to do what they will regardless of how many citizens are against it. Likewise, lay-people have quite literally decided to support these incredible steps-backward in time, allowing their beliefs to restrict and rule over the most basic human rights of others to have body autonomy, even if it may restrict their own future freedoms as well. We can expect the backlash of this and a growing intensity on both sides' resolve to “win” at convincing others they are right, with the real losers being all of us. Those individuals who are a bit more enlightened have an incredible opportunity right now to question their own convictions and to see things from different sides of the argument, hopefully coming to the intelligent and discerning understanding that laws set precedents. Regardless of your personal beliefs, setting precedents that are extremely restrictive of person's freedoms and giving the government more control of our bodies in the form of mandates and bans is an extremely dangerous road to traverse. Lets hope Mercury, our Buddhi, in its own sign of Gemini offers us the intelligence, flexibility, communication skill and discernment necessary to navigate these touchy topics, while Venus in her own sign of Taurus helps us want to get along enough that we do not let our fear and anger burn all our bridges. The Moon, our Emotional, inner self will be compromising our true emotions in Libra on June 13th, when the exact exchange/showdown takes place, which will make us more open to “giving in” but less likely to feel good about that down the road.... July 4th is always pretty ironic in its honoring of freedom we constantly give away here in America, and take from others abroad, but this year will really be a sardonic celebration. For those on the path, the only road OUT is IN. Namaste.
