New Moon in Aries

Good morning/afternoon, new moon, new solar year everyone! After weeks of murky squeamishness roiling around inside ourselves, it sure feels nice to breathe a breath of fresh air and say ahhhhh! We made it through:)
At 8:57 am this morning in Hawaii (and incidentally right in the middle of an awesome yoga class honoring Ganesha taught by yours truly:-) the Sun and Moon converged in the sign of Aries, marking the first new moon of the new year and fiery new beginnings! Consciousness (Shiva) joining Manifest (Shakti) to create....whatever your dharmic path alights for you! In class we did a little Ganesha dance as we brought in the new moon and his birth in the story....what will you birth in this new year?
At this moment, we have the Sun (our Soul Power) and Jupiter (our highest Wisdom and beliefs) in exalted positions in the sky. We have Mars (discipline and action) and Venus (happiness, conditional love, beauty) in their own signs where they are well aligned to be highly intelligent forces of Nature. On Monday, the Moon (connectivity, Our Mind-thoughts and emotions) will also become exalted in the sign of Taurus, joining Venus.
Now is a beautiful time to check in with your highest truth and take steps to make manifest your highest desires aligned with your soul power and great wisdom....all with grace and beauty and geared towards the universal connectivity of all things within and without.

The Sun Moved into Aries Today!!

The Sun has moved into Sidereal Aries today, marking the start of the new astrological year. The Sun has been joined Ketu, the South node, in the mystical sign of Pisces, putting us in touch with our childhoods, the past (even past lives) and in an other-worldly dream-like state. Now we are entering the period of time where our source of power is at its strongest, most active placement in the zodiac. The Sun is exalted in the fiery, masculine sign of the ram, because Aries is ruled by Mars, the indicator of courage and in order for us to step into our true power, we need the courage to act instinctively. Hopefully, the Sun's stint through Pisces (& the whole of the zodiac) has helped us to find the truth of our own personal power and we can act out of a place of service to the highest good of all, like a good king, rather than low forms of exerting our power on others. The Sun is sattwic (spiritually inclined) and purifying, but it does so with a burn! So find the true source of your wholeness within, hold it like a healing crystal and let it reduce to ash all that is not serving you and the highest good. The Sun was preceded into Aries by its ruler, Mars and Mercury, our buddhi (discrimination) and communication planet who just awoke from a dreamlike slumber in its sign of debility, Pisces. So, watch out for overly aggressive speech, being "cut-throat" about others and their actions and try to use this time as an opportunity to discipline your own self, rather than others. Get up early, do yoga, surf, run, whatever physical activity you do that tunes you in and strengthens your inner light, so you can shine, shine, shine!

The Planets this week

Well, the last few weeks have been a doozy, but you might be feeling a bit lighter this week as Venus moved into her own sign of Taurus on Monday, lightening our relations with others, making our lives more beautiful and harmonious, and reminding us to take time to enjoy and be Happy. The next good news is that Jupiter, the planet of our teachers and teachings, and of children (b/c who else teaches us more?), appropriately named Guru in Sanskrit, has been retrograde, and is turning direct Wednesday morning. Jupiter has been in its sign of exaltation, Cancer, since June of last year and is therefore helping us be more in touch with our teachings, spirituality (or religion)and beliefs, and carry a greater wisdom with regards to those things. When it's retrograde, a "backing up" occurs and we internalize that energy, creating a reflective nature surrounding our philosophies and higher beliefs and allowing us room to integrate them into our minds and bodies. Now that it's moving forward again, we can outwardly express that which we've hopefully been integrating by Doing our beliefs...otherwise known as walking the talk. Like a baby sea turtle who has finally hatched and now has to scamper to the surf, narrowly making it past predators and environmental hazards to find their dharmic way on to the sea they are meant to swim in.
But watch out! There are still some predators and hazards within yourself, standing in your way....
Mercury, the communication planet is still debilitated until Saturday, and then is moving into Aries, joined its ruler Mars, creating a fiery and direct manner of speaking, albeit more empowered and clear. So...speak carefully...now, so you say what you mean and come Saturday, so you aren't so mean;-)
The Moon, our mind (thoughts and feelings) and "inner self" is not only debilitated in the sign of Scorpio, but is joined retrograde Saturn, keeping us entangled in our fears, however irrational they may be. She will mosey on out of there on April 9th, so continue to nurture your baby turtle self 'till then. Finally, the Sun will join Mars in its exalted sign of Aries next Tuesday, moving our power and light out of the muck, where it's been hidden in our subconscious, in the otherworldly sign of Pisces joined with the south node, Ketu.
Whew! And then we can swim free, like the baby sea turtles we were meant to be!

Blood Moon Eclipse Forecast

Blood Moon Tonight
Full Moon tonight (Friday)/tomorrow morning, being eclipsed by the Earth's shadow, and lit up by the Sun shining through Earth, and creating a rim that is reflected on to the Moon, turning her luminescence blood red in color. A stunning sight, this will be the shortest eclipse in this century, lasting only 5 minutes. The Moon will begin to enter the Earth's shadow at 12:16am Friday night (technically Saturday April 4th) here in Hawaii (3:16am in California) and will be in full eclipse at 1:58am HT until 2:03am. (4:58-5:03am PT).
This is our follow-up from a harsh 2 weeks after Mars joined the south node, Ketu in a solar eclipse in Pisces, and we were given a crash and burn course on our destructive habits and patterns that have yet to be healed. Our tendency was towards escape (Ketu & Pisces) and to cut off and fight (Mars). This was firmly engrained in us by a Mars-Venus conjunction that kept us fighting our partners and others until we (& they) could take it no more and had to give up and look inside for the real battle ....now we are being forced to look at areas of our life that we want to control and offer up the fruits of our actions to a bigger picture and a higher cause. The moon joins Rahu, the north node, in the sign of Virgo in the nakshatra of Hasta. Virgo is where we are meticulous; ruled by Mercury it is the sign that most enjoys organizing and categorizing and is exactly opposite the sign of Pisces, where we had the solar eclipse, and where we are losing touch with practical reality in search of a metaphysical experience. Incidentally, Virgo's ruler, Mercury finds itself debilitated in Pisces right now, struggling with impractical and fanciful distractions to its job of gathering and assimilating information. Much of what made our warfare over the last two weeks so miserable was that Mercury, our communicator, was out to lunch at sea and the ship to shore radio was on the fritz, so our speech was un-grounded, exaggeratory, and helping us fight more than connect.
In the grounded, practical sign of Virgo our mind and emotions (the Moon) seek order in the midst of a chaotic-feeling eclipse where it's ruler is out to sea and it's joined Rahu who is on a fanatical and obscured search for anything it can try next to sate its unending hunger for more. This will affect whatever house, and therefore area of life, Virgo is in for you. The nodes are mathematical points in space that mark the eclipse points, and while they upset our regular everyday reality, they are powerful relayers of genius and magic; Under their influence sudden flashes of deep insight can arrive into your being.
Hasta, a manifestation star, is ruled by the moon herself, and is like a healing balm on our wounds we can't stop scratching. It is the open hand, that has just released what no longer serves, and the upturned palm, ready to receive the blessings it has worked for. It is a beautiful star to surround yourself in natural beauty (particularly greenery) and calm energy. Allow your struggles both inside and out from the last two weeks to release into Mama Earth. Meditate on what you truly want, for all of humanity, to come through your divine vessel and its manifestation will begin to unfold right in the palm of your hand. The deity Savitur is the ruler of Hasta, so if it's fitting for you and part of your practice, try chanting out loud or to yourself the Gayatri Mantra, leading up to and into the eclipse for clarity.

Om Bhur Bhuvah Swaha
Tat Savitur Varenyam
Bhargo Devasya Dhimaahi
Di yo yo nah Prachodyat
