TThe Moon and Sun are coming together in sidereal Pisces in the star of Revati, “the Wealthy” on March 31 at 8:24 pm HT (11:24 pm PDT) and April 1st in other locations. Revati is the star at the end of Pisces, that brings the cycle of constellations to its end, the long walk home. After doing the deep spiritual work in the previous nakshatra, Uttarabhadrapada, we can finally surrender fully into the wealth that comes when our attachments are gone. We do not need anything but ourselves to surrender home. This nakshatra is peaceful and soft and ruled by Pushan, the nurturer, who is also a shepherd that protects the flocks while they travel. The symbol is a drum, meting out time with each beat. It can send you back into the wheel of time in a peaceful way, or it can assist you in merging with all that is and stepping out of time and space as we know it, but wherever it sends you, it has a calm vibration and the feeling that you will carry much wealth with you where you go.
Mercury is also in Pisces, in the star of Uttarabhadrapada, where it is also in debilitation, or its least intelligent state. This is because Mercury is our buddhi, or discernment and in Pisces we are connecting and merging with everything and seeing it as “One” as opposed to the delineation and separation that occurs when we are sifting through information and words in order to think and communicate. The intellect can be “out at sea” here, but can also bring unusual, otherworldly, spiritual, creative and emotional truths out in a less linear fashion and deep insight is available. One complication of this is that right now we have some intensity with conjunctions and the recent nodal axis shift that is causing difficult dynamics that might require precise and clear communication in order to navigate and the potential for misunderstandings is high. Saturn and Mars will be exactly conjunct on the 3rd and 4th of April, bringing our Fear and Fight into a planetary collision. Saturn is and has been holding court in his own sign of Capricorn, where Mars is exalted and in his highest capacity for discipline, strength of purpose and continuous constructive action. The high operational intelligence of both of these Grahas is going to help whatever explosions come of it move us closer to our true path, even if it is in a difficult house for you. On a global scale, we also can expect some intensity, both geological and social. Rahu in Aries now is magnifying, and dispersing our fiery and militant feelings and it is certainly a blessing to have its ruler Mars exalted, but the proximity of Saturn and the fact that the nodes are containing all the planets between them right now in a Kala Sarpa Yoga (Time Snake), indicates that fear and delusion may either overcome a strong practical path that we are on, or send us to using our might and determination to fight a battle that is not real or necessary. This is further exacerbated by the fact that Venus has now joined Jupiter in Aquarius and so we are entering another battle between what we believe and what actually allows us to relate in harmony and peace. Aquarius is the sign of society and shows us where we can be, and what is wrong with how we are co-existing currently. Venus here can step out of one-to-one romantic relationships and into the realm of how we are all in relationship to one another. Jupiter can show us the potential path forward for us collectively, especially in the specific star he is transiting of Purva Bhadrapada but he can also lead us to depart from true timeless teachings in favor of wisdom that is more temporal and specific to an environment/place in Aquarius. He will be moving into his own sign of Pisces on April 13th and we can expect this star to guide us through the portal of awareness that we are beyond these forms and that even the worst that we witness in the world around us will eventually merge back into the great ocean of energy and be reborn. Maybe even through you. Can we see ourselves in each other, and in the best and worst of society? Our tendency to “other” each other, even through compassion and empathy, is the very thing that keeps us trapped. Full Moon in Virgo: Dealing & Healing On March 17th at 9:17 pm HT (March 18th, 12:17 am PDT) the Moon will be full in the sign of Virgo. Virgo is the feminine earthy side of Mercury, and the sign of health and healing, indicating a strong need to take care of our bodies. Here we are quite sensitive to pollutants, loud or abrupt noises, messy environments, or toxic chemicals. We are partial to natural healing and plants medicine and we want to create soothing and peaceful spaces where there is plenty of greenery and organization/minimal clutter. In Virgo we are here to organize and purify and first and foremost is our body, and then the environment our body is in, but the body is so affected by the environment that the two become one and the same. This is also a place in the sky where we can become over-zealous about the details and our desire to put everything in its place. The inherently messy nature of living life is the issue that Virgo natives must always deal with. Nothing will ever remain clean, pure and organized and so their job is one that must be done again and again and sometimes they can drive themselves, and others, crazy trying to make everything perfect. The lesson here is to recognize the ease and beauty that comes from a clean and clear body, mind and space but to also know when enough is enough and stop. The desire for this illusory perfection Virgo seeks creates a personality where we can spend a lot of time seeing what is wrong, especially with oneself, so it is important to actively account for all that is right too. The specific star that this Full Moon is blessing us in, is called Uttara Phalguni, the “later reddish lady,” indicating the romantic courtship phase of Purva Phalguni is passed and that the need to make contracts and put things into agreement has come. This pair of Phalguni stars are indicated by a bed and this shows us the romantic nature of them both, as well as the quality of Uttara Phalguni that it is the marriage star. Marriage is much different from courtship, in that it is not all romantic. It is in fact, more about creating agreements than it is about love and without these agreements it will be impossible to have lasting pleasure and enjoyment that the previous star brings. Things will eventually become hard and showing up for another person for the long run is work and requires guidelines and the blessings of family, friends and God. The deity here is Aryaman, who is the groomsman, specifically the friend who asked the woman to marry the man. Note that contracts and agreements are necessary in any partnership, business, otherwise (and with ourselves!) and as such this star is where we learn that without these agreements, we will surely run into later problems. With the Sun fresh in Pisces across the way, we are going to experience more and more the energy of “checking out” or allowing all the details to merge into one, so this Full Moon is offering us a chance to mitigate this energy before it even fully begins. Virgo is where we are organizing details, and creating lines and boxes to put those details in; Pisces is where we erase the lines and find faith on a level that is even beyond religion or spiritual dictates of man. It is the place where we swim in the waters of emotion and devotion and trying to find the ultimate freedom and peace. Notice where you tend to fall on this spectrum and adjust accordingly. Simple routines, charts, or other “man-made” tools can help channel all of our energy into easy to digest parts that make functioning in the material world flowing better than just trying to flow without any guidelines. Mercury is quite close to Jupiter now in Aquarius, offering us an opportunity to let our wisdom and intellect influence each other. Since Mercury is in stronger dignity in Aquarius, the discernment will be stronger than the wisdom, but note that Mercury in Satabishak nakshatra can focus on the darkness and what is corrupted or wrong. Shatabishak is also the star of “100 Healers” and Mercury the ruler of Virgo. It is said that if you fall ill under this star, not even 100 healers can cure you but if you find the cure under this star, you will be fully healed from anything that ails you. This is a good time to look into true healing techniques and begin implementing them! Jupiter is in his own star of Purva Bhadrapada which will carry him into Pisces April 13th, so the wisdom here is the recognition that we are more than our bodies and that true soul-level healing happens when we connect to Source. Mars and Venus are getting closer to Saturn in the sky and yet have finally pulled apart from each other. As they move farther from each other, we might find ourselves more willing to compromise with others again and our relationships will find some healing too. Mars in his exaltation is helping us have the self-discipline we desperately need and Venus in positive dignity as well, has more realistic expectations of other people and what they can do for us. As they inch closer to Saturn, some fear or detachment may occur, and also commitment and humility. Mars is in particular, will be challenged by Saturn’s presence as the two malefic planets are opposing in their presence. Mars is fight, or action and Saturn is fear, or hesitation. Even with Mars exalted and Saturn in his own sign, we can see that there will be disturbance between our fight and flight tendencies. In fact, Saturn’s presence makes Mars more uncomfortable by virtue of the fact that he is the ruler of the sign; he is the landlord and that stilts Mars’ ability to do what he does best in Capricorn, move forward in a steady pace towards a measurable goal. Finally the Nodes have just moved into their new axis for the next year and a half. Rahu is now officially in Aries and Ketu is now in Libra.
