This Sunday March 28, at 8:48 am HT (-10 GMT) the Moon and Sun will be exactly opposite one another for our Full Moon in sidereal Virgo in the star of Hasta. Here we take our best laid plans and release them. What remains or comes back is what we are making manifest. Ruled by Savitur, the aspect of the Sun that we experience before we even see it and witness first rising on the Eastern Horizon, Hasta is the open hand, open to receive as well as to let go of what no longer serves us. Thankfully, we’ve had a nice explosive Mars/Rahu conjunction nine houses away from this Moon, which very likely helped us each lose what no longer serves us in our truth, LOL! The universe always provides:)
Seriously, while it is never fun to experience intense anger from within or outside of us, it is often these “explosive” experiences that help clarify what isn’t working and propels us forward. No pain, no gain, they say, and sometimes that is true. The real blessing isn’t in random explosions, however, it’s in aligning with our deepest truths and following a path that continues to build on and illuminate those truths. With Venus, the ruler of Taurus (where the Rahu/Mars exact conjunction occurs Friday) is in her point of exaltation in Pisces. When Venus is exalted, we really move beyond basic relational needs with one another and into the next plane of love, where it is IN us and EVERYWHERE around us too. When we focus on the immediate exchange of two persons we can elevate our love to a point, but when we move that into a space that is bigger than any two beings themselves can carry, we invite God(dess) in to activate that love. We move from bounded to unbounded love. This is especially important right now, because in Virgo, the sign of Healing, we are getting an exchange between the Moon and Venus, two primary planets in relationships. The Moon in Virgo can bring our mind and emotions to be overly focused on the details, and we can struggle to step back and see the big picture. Venus in Pisces can help keep the focus of happiness on our connection to spirit, rather than something someone else needs to do to please us. Venus and Sun joined in Pisces can find us floating in a sea of all the possibilities, without any bounds to keep us contained, and the Moon in Virgo can bring us back to the specifics that ground our thoughts, feelings and inspirations into something tangible that can be made or done. Venus being so close to the Sun (they are also exact as of Friday) can give us the feeling of being overlooked, underappreciated and not admired. This could definitely be a catalyst for some of the anger and aggression of the Mars/Rahu conjunction, but it can also be an inspiration to find our happiness inside ourselves and our relationship to Spirit, not through others and what they give us. Everyone is always going through their own experiences also, and often we expect too much of each other. We expect our friends and partners to show up for us in ways we often do not even show up for ourselves, and this is not a healthy dynamic. How can we connect to one another outside the fields of “right and wrong” and how we have been conditioned to think relating works? How can we manifest our wildest dreams, literally grounding the impossible in the possible? The only way is if we allow our connection to whatever Source we resonate with to guide through us. If we are the only ones with whom the responsibility of making big things happen, we will fall from the weight of it all. Even with help from that other person we have made contracts and commitments with, we will both drown. Swimming is an act of God. Floating and being carried while also using the mechanics and know how to keep yourself afloat. Neither can happen on our own will alone. With the ruler of the Moon, Mercury in the end degrees of Aquarius, we can use this time to blueprint our models for what we want to build in society and for the future. In just a few days, Mercury will transition into Pisces and our capacity to clarify our thoughts will be also in the watery and spiritual realm of the fish. While brilliant insight will be available with the conjunction of exalted Venus, we will still have more trouble delineating and organizing our thoughts at that point. Jupiter is also giving dristhi to this Full Moon, giving us some practical wisdom that includes long-term awareness of how best laid plans can falter, fail or survive. This is a time to take the gold nuggets of wisdom of Jupiter in Capricorn, and leave the fear and less expansive energy to be, because the Sun is coming up and we can choose to either stay asleep, or be a part of this brand new day! Gayatri Mantra: Om Bhur Bhuva Swaha Tat Savitur Varenyum Bhargo Devasya Dhimahi Di Yo Yo Na Prachodyat Holi is the “festival of colors”, an Indian holiday that officially brings us into the celebration of Spring! As we move out of the darkness of winter and into the budding spring, we also are honoring the lifting from the darkness of spirit into the light. The story of Holi shows Prahlad, a devoted young boy who has a one-pointed love for Vishnu being born to a demon king, Hiranyakashyapa. His father was self-obsessed and wanted the devotion of his son. When the reflection of Prahlad’s purity became too much to bear, he began to devise a plan to end his son’s life. After several failed attempts, he brings his sister Holika into his schemes, asking her to bring Prahlad onto her lap and he will light a fire around them. Holika has a boon to be protected from fire, but Prahlad will burn. Unfortunately for her, Holika finds out that her boon was contingent on her being alone in the fire and she burns, while Prahlad’s devotion and love for Vishnu saves him. The day leading up to the festival of Holi is often honored by bonfire, where this scene is re-enacted and then fire can be brought back to individual homes to purify and clean any negative energies that have accumulated there, as well as bacteria, disease etc. This is a time to begin Spring Cleaning too! Happy Holi! Mars/Rahu in Taurus joined exact this week... Plus ruler Venus exalted & combust in Pisces !!
Explosive, and Fiery Potential, but also Deep Devotion as the ruler Venus is in her sign of exaltation, Pisces. Whenever Mars joins Rahu, the north node, we have potential for explosions, as Mars is fire and Rahu is the airy quality of dispersion. This can literally bring fires to the earth (Taurus is an earth sign), and definitely within our bodies and lives. From an Ayurvedic perspective, we can calm this fire (pitta) and air (vata) with food choices that steer clear of oily, spicy, acidic or gassy foods. We can also practice asana and pranayama that help to meet and control these exacerbated energies. Twists and backbends can help control the fire, also long holds and strengthening poses that do not have excessive movement. This will also automatically bring more peace to the mind, but in addition breaths like Nadi shodhana (alternate nostril breathing), Sitali (cooling breath) and even just long deep breaths can help to stabilize and neutralize the dispersive and nervous energy of Rahu. note: This conjunction is happening in the nakshatra Rohini, the rosy red maiden whom is the favored of the 27 stars by both her husband Chandra (Moon god) and her father, Daksha. We can see this play out with an emphasis on fighting for the rights of young women, and their sexual freedom as well as their right to not be exploited or killed/assaulted. Be patient and compassionate with yourself and others, as they are all experiencing this also. Also, be careful out there! It’s been heating up, so you’ve likely already experienced a lot of the beginning phases of it. Rahu can have us feeling like a stranger in a strange land, so don’t force yourself to be around people, but accept that they will likely be around making noise anyway, lol, and practice imagining that your thoughts and experiences are also the ones they are having. Recognizing yourself in the other. This will be happening in a different house, a different area of life for each of us, and Mars is a different house lord for us each too, so referring back to the video I made a month ago when Mars first moved in, where I go through this transit for all 12 signs will be helpful, and I’ll put the link in the comments. I do go through a few examples in the facebook live video filmed today and much more in depth with the way we are experiencing this. I will list that video also in the comments, after it airs. Venus is joined the Sun (also exact on the 26th) in her sign of highest potency, Pisces, the watery emotional realm of merging with all that is. Here we have a chance to really feel the love and devotion available when we see God/Goddess/Energy in everything and everything as an emanation of that love itself. While Venus combust the Sun can definitely have us feeling overlooked and underappreciated, in her sign of exaltation with the indicator of Consciousness itself, we are able to really have a communion with Source if we are in touch with this part of ourselves. Whatever house Pisces is for you, and Venus and the Sun ruling, will definitely get a boost of this extra-ordinary love and creativity, and as she is the ruler of Mars/Rahu in Taurus, we will all see potential for our actions to be elevated to this level as well, perhaps even inspired by the feeling of “other” that Rahu can delude us with. It is also important to note that once Rahu moves into earlier degrees than Mars (the nodes of the Moon move backwards as the planets generally move forward), we will also begin to bring our Kala Sarpa Yoga to an end. The Kala Sarpa, or “Time Snake” has wrapped us up in its coils of delusion and illusion since Venus first brought us into it in early January and has been helping us evolve our karmas with this Taurus/Scorpio axis by giving us extraordinary experiences to highlight the karma we must bring to a close in Scorpio, through the shadows in that area of our life. The lessons we learn from the smoky haze of the nodes are necessary if we hope to stabilize and get more positive results with the newer karma on the front end with Rahu in Taurus, which is driving this Kala Sarpa. If you are not already on my email list, when you sign up you will receive an instant free report on this Taurus/Scorpio nodal axis for all 12 signs! Sign up in the top right corner! Many blessings to you and all around you! Hare Ohm Note: If you have been considering to book a reading with me on your own chart, now’s the time! All reading rates will be getting a long-overdue raise starting on this upcoming Full Moon, Sunday March 28th! Book here: The New Moon is this Saturday, March 13th at 12:21 am Hawaii Time. This New Moon also falls on the heels of the biggest celebration of our highest spiritual potential all year, Mahashivaratri, the Great Night of Lord Shiva. Every 13th (night)/14th lunar day of the waning Moon (Krishna Paksha) is a Shivaratri, in that as the Moon and Sun come together as one, our Mind joins our Consciousness in a meditative union. We are not lit up in the light of our socially aware selves, rather internalized in our own inner awareness. On this 14th phase, Chaturdashi tithi, the Moon is moving to its absolute darkest and in the month of Magha/Phalguna, it is the time where the Northern Hemisphere is also most positioned towards the heavens... offering us humans a potent portal to access our highest self. This is the story of the marriage of Shiva and Parvati and all they had to overcome in order to unite in love, and this is also the story of Shiva becoming so entranced in meditation, he became one with Mount Kailash, still as a mountain himself. This is a night for yogis, ascetics, householders and eccentrics to become one with their own selves. This year, it will be celebrated on March 11th. This New Moon is falling just before the final degree of sidereal Aquarius in the star of Purva Bhadrapada, the early blessed result. This nakshatra is ruled by Aja Ekapada, the one footed goat who shows us the rough climb we have if we do not possess all our faculties. It is also where we receive that lightning flash of insight that we are more than just these shells of flesh and bone. It is where we realize we are the Seer. Much work is left to do thereafter, as a glimpse is not a becoming, but it is often the beginning of an arduous journey through the next star of Uttara Bhadrapada, where we have to dive deep into our own poison to come out with the nectar. Purva Bhadrapada is in both Aquarius and Pisces, the bridge between our mind and our feeling nature on the universal plane. When we can imagine the future, and then when we can become it. We are still at the final degrees of the mental plane of Aquarius, where we realize the health of the collective is the health of the individual. Where we understand that we are all in this together. What this means to each of us will, as always, depend on our worldview and beliefs but the capacity for great change on a grand scale is very much available. We can choose how we want that to look at move forward in a sacred way, or we can allow the usual suspects to dictate what that future looks like. It is up to each of us to thrive for the hive! What is your greatest vision for humanity? What does a first step forward look like. If we get to caught up in reaching an ambitious goal, then we feel disappointed when we don’t get there. We need to see an end vision and work towards it, but also have the flexibility to allow it to form as it naturally will. We also must be present enough to accept each step as it’s own victory, like our friend Aja Ekapada! We have both Venus and Mercury now in Aquarius as well, Venus quite close to the Sun and Moon. Might our willingness to work together, find harmony and compromise in our work and excellent communication. While our beliefs (Jupiter) and commitments (Saturn) are still steeped in the fear of Capricorn, they are also offering us that same thing we have had available since Jan 2020 when Saturn first moved into his home sign….a chance to let go. When better to apply this capacity for silence, solitude and meditation than at Shivaratri? When better to understand that the more we merge with our own higher self, the easier it will be to engage with others and the world community? If we don’t address our individual reality, how can we hope to solve collective problems? With Jupiter giving a 5th house dristhi to Mars in Taurus, we will have the inspiration to act, but it may pull us to more materialistic, sensuous and practical pursuits. This is less of a concern if our personal kingdom is in order because all marching orders will be coming from a place of deep understanding. If we are scratching the surface though, then we will achieve just that…surface results. With all the planets trapped between the lunar nodes right now, we can go deep within and awaken, or remain shallow and confused...the choice is for each of us.Go Deep;-) Blessed Shivaratri & New Moon!
