This is a time of great awakening on the planet. We are being swept up in a frenzy of data, figures, information and opinions all masquerading as “facts” and “journalism”. The truth is largely unknown and delusion and illusion is being spread much like the coronavirus itself—rapidly and exponentially. We have the choice only to run from piece of information to piece of information in a wild frenzy to “know more”, or to settle into the easy reality that truth will not be found in articles, memes, or even at this point, groupings of data. Truth will only be found within. Trust yourself. Your beliefs have largely been founded on what you think is true from the misinformation you have been fed. From birth until now. Go deeper. Your real beliefs don't take place in a specific time at a specific place. They are eternal. The more we can capture this moment of pure action, pure peace within and a willingness to lead even just ourselves with courage and discipline, the closer to truth we will be. We have entered into what is called a Kala Sarpa Yoga, A Time Snake has coiled us and all the different aspects of who we are in its illusory grasp. We can run around devouring more illusions, becoming more and more deluded, or we can sit in the space within ourselves that has been created by all this and allow great wisdom to enter. It is available to everyone, and it requires little more than elevating your own simple observations and experiences above all the noise. We have excellent transits of the planets during this time to allow us to receive potent messages of truth instead of more of the same BS, but we must be willing to listen.
If you are lucky enough to have others around you, enjoy the time together, but also do not be afraid to give one another space to have your own unique experience. Even children flourish when not constantly being distracted by busyness. If you are alone, use your phone or mail to connect with people you love and try to sit lovingly with your feelings of loneliness...what were you filling that void with before? Was it real? We have got this. The more awake we become, perhaps the more the powers that benefit from our sleep-state will try to wind us tighter in their coil, but the illusion of security has forever been broken. If you were not already aware of how broken our systems and structures were, then you will have no choice but to be in the coming months.
Positive, constructive and loving action (and inaction) is all we can each do right now in the outside world. In our individual internal universes, we can travel through all space and time to find absolute truths that cannot be thwarted by circumstances. May all beings be happy and free. May we see and hold one another in love and grace. The time is now.
The Moon and Sun will join together in 10 degrees sidereal Pisces at 2:28 am PST this Tuesday, March 24th, making Monday night the dark moon. This New Moon in Pisces is located in the star of Uttara Bhadrapada, where we have seen the lightening flash of insight already. We already know that we are spiritual beings having a human experience—now we must dive deep into ourselves to grab a hold of something more than just that realization. We must do the spiritual work, and it requires not just effort, but faith. It is a letting go as much as anything and the deep surrender that comes when we are sitting in the subconscious realm. The nakshatra is represented by the water snake, or naga, Ahirbudhnya, and shows an accepting of the poison that come before the sweet nectar. It also indicates a deep need to integrate the subconscious with the conscious, so that we can become whole within ourselves. If we are not able to find oneness within our own selves, we will not be able to bring that together on a global scale either.
Practical action will be our guiding force this month, as Mars is joining Saturn in Capricorn this Sunday, March 22nd. Mars is bringing courage, discipline and action to the serious and steady sign of long-term goals and practical, responsible efforts. This alignment will help each person, business, town, county, state and country move forward in their efforts to diminish the effects of Covid-19. Mars is exalted in this placement because it is where we are most able to funnel our excess fire and anger into a valuable and worthwhile project. With the two natural malefics joined, we can expect fear and anger to continue to prevail, but with an intelligence, caution and maturity not often seen when these two planets join. Jupiter will be joining March 29th, which will begin a period where we will not be using our best teachings and highest wisdom. Our sense of expansion constricted and our hopefulness waning, we can expect both within ourselves and outside of ourselves to see a wave of fear-based ideologies come out of every opinion and even potential laws and judgements that speak to this fear. Jupiter is debilitated in Capricorn, focused more on money and safety than higher truths and philosophies. The month ahead should be interesting and our commitment to our practices, physical and spiritual will be paramount in how we handle as individuals.
Mercury in Aquarius is offering us some discrimination in what we hear and read and allowing us to communicate somewhat effectively. Aquarius is the sign of community, futuristic vision and humility. These qualities make it a humanitarian sign, where we think of the many over the few. Mercury is also in the star of Shatabishak for this New Moon, where we had our last New Moon. This is the star of a hundred healers and represents our collective desire to use our intelligence and communication to help each other and the world heal right now. We can see this as in the midst of this global pandemic, many people are offering their gifts to be of service, helping one another through the challenges we are navigating right now and attempting to adapt to our dilemma with new and different systems and solutions. Of course there will always be the opposite of that occurring too, as all swings of the pendulum have to swing back the other direction to work towards balance.
Venus is on her last few days in Aries, moving into Taurus on the 29th, and we can see that our selfishness in relation to others will transition to a more peaceful and harmonious vibe. While in Aries, our sense of relating to others and experiencing happiness is focused on getting what we want and not paying a lot of attention to who or what we tumble in the process. Once she moves into her own sign, we will prefer to ground ourselves in creating, growing food, cooking, eating and generally making ourselves feel good. In Taurus, we want to feel pleasure, but we also understand that it is better if we are aware of others and their needs too to fully experience pleasure. We are also slower and more sensual in our daily experiences, as opposed to storming forward on our way towards a specific goal we think we have. This helps us “stop and smell the roses” and find beauty and peace in the little things. Now is a time to care for ourselves, so that we are able to withstand anything that comes our way. It is also a time to check in on one another, as many people are experiencing severe life consequences to this virus literally shutting down the world, not to mention those that are sick. May all beings everywhere be happy and free. Lokah Samasta Sukinoh Bhavantu
Sunday night our Moon will be across from the Sun, being fully luminous, with the exact opposite degrees falling at 10:48 am PDT on Monday, March 9th. This full moon is in sidereal Leo, in the sign of Kings and Queens. The specific start that it falls in is Purva Phalguni, where we are less-inclined towards the work of our predecessors and our lineage or higher calling and more inclined towards the reveling in the pleasure and power. This is the star where we see leaders fall. The source of it all is through the eyes, where we fall for illusions of grandeur and see beauty and try to use our power to own it. We each have this potential but if it is high in someone's chart than we likely see that this person falls prey to their own vanity and the allure of beautiful things time and time again. It is good to be king, but not if your subjects are suffering. If the whole kingdom is falling apart, you will eventually lose your followers. The ruling graha (body that “grabs” us) of Leo is of course, the Sun, where we are directed by our light. Our inner light, our consciousness is a reflection of our outer light, the sun. This higher part of us is in Aquarius, giving us a different message. The message there is, it must be good for all. If we aren't helping everyone, we are helping ourselves. Angry subjects will overthrow a bad king. Aquarius is where we use our intellect to create and implement forward-thinking endeavors whose goals are to help mankind. The new Moon we had two weeks ago in Shatabishak also highlighted health and healing, and this coronavirus scare has taken the front stage since then. As we face a potential world-wide epidemic, we are being asked to see if the leaders are serving the greater good, or taking advantage of their power. This is also something that is coming up with the primary elections in the US and within the Democratic party. Are the leaders serving the community and their needs, or keeping power and trading it amongst themselves?
Heavy questions for which many of us might have well-thought out ideas, but have been suffering from diminished capacity to get our words out. With Mercury Retrograde the last few weeks, we have not been able to share our thoughts as effectively with others and this leads to frustration within. We are tempted to give up when we don't feel heard. To just keep our brilliant understanding to ourselves and people who already “get it” and to let everyone else fall flat. This is a losing strategy too. It is another side of the leader who enjoys their power too much and forgets that their job is to lead people to prosperity, safety and freedom. This notion that well they deserve what they get from their own ignorance is equally dangerous. Later this same day, Mercury will station and begin to speed up and appear “foward-moving” again. To be clear, Mercury (and all the other planets) don't actually move backwards. They are moving so slow during retrograde cycles that it appears that way from our viewpoint here on earth. This is a good time to get your word out, whatever that looks like. Computers and technology will be less likely to stall our or malfunction and we will be more likely to say what we are trying to in all the ways that can happen. We have the opportunity to shine and come from a place of personal power now, but also to recognize what our power can and should do for everyone else. For this full moon we also have Jupiter giving his direct, one-way gaze from his home base in Sagittarius. This is poignant because it is an opportunity to remember our wisdom, our teachings and our teachers. It is an opportunity to call on our highest wisdom and dharma, truth in our leadership. It is also the last couple weeks we will have access to this higher wisdom for a while, so we need to use it while we have it!
In March we see both Mars and Jupiter moving into Capricorn to join Saturn. I talk about this in-depth in the video, but the short version is that Mars is exalted in Capricorn, bringing courage, physical activity and discipline the long term goals that Saturn has been setting and slowly working towards there. Mars might quicken the pace, blow up some of the road blocks and generally march in and take over the show as the esteemed guest with all the skills. Jupiter, however, will be bringing his worst game here. In his state of debilitation, our planet of wisdom, our idealism and beliefs is going to be feeling constricted, out of his element and eventually confused. With Saturn there, the practical and harsh realities will be constantly forcing Jupiter's normal expansive hopefulness in. With Mars there, our sense of inspiration will be squashed by the over-importance of doing and working over dreaming and knowing. With the force that drives us being shut down, our long-term efforts and goals will get closer to achieved, but we may forget why we are trying to accomplish them to begin with.
While we can, we should take advantage of the great moment of power available to us, with our voice intact, and our wisdom and discrimination in good dignity. Soon enough, we will have less wisdom and less discrimination in our communication and our noses will be to the grindstone. Namaste
